Intruder Alarms

Intruder alarms, programming, design advise, detector selection.

  1. Hi guys, I’m curently using a couple of Texecom RF 360 PIR sensors (from your good selves). I’ve had them in place for several years covering some common hall/landing areas, all good. Last year I got a cat… Even on pulse count=2 these sensors are not pet immune, and as a result I’ve had to stop arming the alarm, otherwise the cat will set off false alarms all the time. ? I need to stick with 360 ceiling mounted sensors as the wiring is in place inside a finished ceiling. I have a little void, so I could potentially change from surface to recessed flush mounting if necessary… Is there such a thing as a pet immune 360 ceiling PIR? would perh…

  2. Started by Trojan,

I have recently changed a Optima compact Gen 4 panel as a favour for someone. The first panel that was bought through Amazon had a fault on it. A second unit has since been fitted and all is working except the new Siren which is a Reson 8. The unit comes with pre-fitted links across TA TAMP and PA. The manual states that these should be in place when powering the unit up. This contradicts some advice on online instruction that says to remove the link to T A when wiring the siren. The external siren does not sound or flash when an alarm is activated, internal sounder in board works OK and all zones work fine on a walk test. No LED,s in the siren are vi…

Hi all I'm new to this forum, so please excuse my lack of technical knowledge. A couple of days ago I was moving stuff around under my staircase where I have an Alarm panel covered inside its metal casing. I'm certain I did not touch it, suddenly the house alarm went off and the Keypad panel was showing Bell fuse fault. I went ahead and replaced the bell fuse and it but it kept blowing. I had the alarm engineer who installed it come round and he disconnected all wiring to the PCB and still fuse kept blowing. The engineer has currently rewired the bell box to another connection on the PCB allowing me to still set the alarm but I have to say 'yes' to the fault to get to the…

  4. Hi, I have installed my first wireless le sucre PIR on my flex system. Everything went ok with pairing until next morning I get keypad message rf batlow. Result: I am on my 3rd battery in 3 days!! So I have changed old PIR removed serial and paired new PIR with the panel and I can see the new serial No. in th RF intruder zone (signal strength is good menu 21). When I do a walk test I get no result from the RF zone. If I activate tamper the panel registers it. When I walk pass the sensor I get 2 long flashes then when I move after that I just get 2 short flashes. I thougth that wireless PIRs do not flash after warm up unless the alarm is set? The PIR does this wethe…

  5. The Scantronic alarm is situated in the hallway and the past couple of days an alarm keeps going off. It seems to happen when we close the door leading into the hallway or sometimes we do nothing to set it off. The error on the log says "Z01 TAMPER", so there is tampering in zone 1 but the installer didnt inform us on the zones in the house or even how many zones there are in the house. I would be tempted to omit the Zone 1 from the system, but I would be worried as I am guessing it is the zone that encompasses the front door/hallway. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  7. Hi, I have a Eurosec CPX alarm system. I also have the engineer and user codes. I need to change the battery as it's probably eight years old. Please could someone give me a step by step guide as to how I disable the system so I can open the control unit without setting off the alarm. I am happy with the physical change of the battery. I have the 'User Instructions' but it does not cover battery replacement. I guess I would need a maintenance manual. I have also noticed that when I have a power cut the alarm goes off. Is this correct and if so how do I disable that function. It happened a couple of weeks ago when I was abroad on holiday, much to the i…

Hi there I'm thinking about installing the Telecom Elite Premier 48 in our home and I'd like to use the Connect communicator module. This module requires firmware version 4 but the SW website indicates that control panel is supplied with version 3. Is this the case, or is the website out of date? If it does come with version 3 then can it be upgraded and how? Are any extra parts such as PC communicator boards required? Many thanks Guy

  10. Started by Scoobz,

The keypad panel on my Flex 20 is showing a series of stars. Whilst I was away we had a thunder storm which knocked out my internet (it impacted the router). It also appears to have knocked out the intruder alarm, which sat next to it. When I went to check it there was no power coming out from the panels 15v power supply. I subsequently plugged in a 12 volt one which powered up the alarm and the keypad, which is now displaying a series of stars / asterisks, and is non responsive. I assume this is because the alarm system needs 15 volts to fully function and the batteries have been completely discharged (checked the one on the control panel and it was down to…

  12. Good morning, I've bought a GalaxyFlex and a RF Portal from Honeywell which work like a charm I would like to add some Wireless shock/vibration sensor with Door Contact in my house. I've bought the "Honeywell Le Sucre Wireless Shock Sensor with Contact White" ( Model: SHKC8M ), but it's quite big. I would prefer something smaller, more discreet , like the Honeywell Wireless Door/window compact magnetic contact Brown ( Model: DO800M2 ), but with the shock sensor feature Could you advise me another product (shock + contact) which would be compatible with the GalaxyFlex ? Thanks in advance for your help Cedric

Hi All, I have an old Siemens IC60 panel with 3 wired keypads, 3 wired sensors, plus some wireless stuff (Sensors, Smoke detectors, keyfobs etc..) I also have some z-wave and 433 home automation stuff running under vera edge and domoticz. I am looking to upgrade this to something more modern. My main requirements: - IP connectivity so I can monitor remotely - 3 wired keypads - Images / video on movement when armed - but want to avoid standard IP WIFI cameras inside my home. - Easier to arm / disarm (RFID, keyfobs, Bluetooth proximity etc) - Ability to view video / images without a phone - If I am in bed, and the alarm tr…

  18. I have a Securit 800L+ alarm panel. Fitted by the housebuilder. I need to remove the alarm panel for building work. It would appear the siren is a Self Contained Bell or a Self Activating Bell. When I disconnect the mains and the internal 12v lead acid battery the siren goes off. Would keeping the siren -Ve and +Ve at 9v to 12v keep the siren from sounding.? I have the installation manual for the alarm but I do not have any details of the siren box fitted.
