I am looking at the few control panels and have a few queries which I hope you can assist with. Install is for detached 5 bed house. Suggestions are: - Texecom Veritas R8 Plus - Scantronic 9651EN - Pyronix Sterling 10 1. Believe all are grade 2 but not entirely clear. Is this correct? 2. All seem to be 8 zone but with the Sterling it has an additional dedicated PA zone. I am correct that on the others would need to allocate 1 of 8 zones for PA? 3. Last install a few years back was a Pyronix Paragon which we had no problems with. Is the new Sterling of similar quality to the Scantronic and Texecom which seem to be a lot more popular? 4. Assume all ha…

Can anyone offer advice on programming the advanced modes of this dialer? I want to enable the option that modifies the dial out sequence such that each of the 4 numbers are dialled once in turn (default mode is for No.1 to be dialled 15 times before moving to No.2) The operation/introduction section of the manual suggests that this option is available, however I can't find the appropriate advanced programming mode/code for this option. Any advice would be appreciated Regards and TIA John

Having just commissioned a 9651 I've been testing out event logging for the system. I isolated the mains supply, hopping to invoke a mains fail alert. The RKP recorded the event properly, but interrogation of the event log showed no mains fail alerts. I carried out this mains fail test for both set and unset modes with the same result. Do I have to enable logging for this type of event somehow, or should it be enabled automatically? Or perhaps there's a timer on mains fail events and I didn't leave the mains off long enough? Any ideas? thanks John

Hi, I would be most grateful if someone could answer the following question regarding this panel as I can't seem to get hold of the installation manual for it. 1. Product description for the Euro Mini says that this panel has 10 EoL zones. Does that mean that it is FSL capable? 2. If so what are the resistor values? 3. I'm assuming that I would require a 12v 7AH backup battery for this panel. Would that be correct? Thanks in advance.

What battery do you recommend for this combination? Does the 9651EN-43 include a speaker? If not can you recommend one? Thanks John

Hello I'm hoping to replace my existing intruder alarm panel with the Scantronic 9561 series panel. I do see that securitywarehouse is selling both the EN, and UK models of 9561. Now I know that 9561EN is a grade 2 alarm, and that 9561UK is ungraded. Are there any other differences in the two? Basically my question boils down to: Which one of the two should I go for, considering the fact that its going to be DIY installation, so do I need the EN model? Is the UK model flushed with older software in comparison to the EN model? Why is the 9561UK slightly more expensive than the 9561EU, even though the EU model is graded, whereas the UK model is not? Tha…

Hi, I'm looking to install an alarm system for a steel shed with no windows. Alarms are all very new to me so I'd appreciate some advice. What I want to achieve is: - An audible alarm activated when the door is opened. - A system that runs on mains power, but which has a battery backup of at least 2 weeks. - Preferably some way of disabling the alarm before entering the shed, avoiding the need to have a period to allow for a code/key to be used to disable the alarrm once the door is open. - Surface contact sensors on the door. Is this achievable, or am I looking for something that doesn't exist? I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has any. All advice gr…

I have a Cooper SD2+ connected to a system and working fine using the O2 SMS centre. I have been asked to switch this to using the BT Text service so that use can be made of the bundled free texts with the BT phone line. Not an unreasonable request. The problem is that I have tried almost every setting to get this unit to work with BT Text and have even had a BT engineering helping but to no avail. (message centre number 1470 P 17094009) Has anyone else found this to be a problem or managed to solve it? If so could you post the settings and procedure. Thanks

Hope someone can give some help or suggestions. After being broken into earlier in the year, I have finally got round to installing the alarm system that was purchased a couple of months ago. Every thing seems to work, that is after a minor wiring fault on the global system tamper, which turned out to be poor connection on vibration sensor (front door). The problem is the external sounder will not function at all, apart from the tamper circuit. There is definitely power from the control panel and the standby battery has 8 volts. I have tried the trouble shooting instructions in the installation manual, which is make temp connection between SAB B and D for the sound…

My existing panel was faulty so I puchased a Risco Gartec 490x from you. I liked it beacuse it is hybrid wireless and we are having an extension built, which will make it easy to add additional movement detectors. The control panel and keypad are installed and work fine apart from one problem. I get a warning - off chg volts high / battery/fuse fault - it takes a about 30 minutes after exiting the engineer mode for the fault to register. Its a new battery (again purchased from you) and the fuses are all Ok - any ideas what I have done wrong. Also given that I am not a registered installer will Risco technical help talk to me or am I on my own. regards

Hi, I've just installed a Scantronic Homelink55 and the hardwired side of this has worked perfectly straight away. However the wireless side has proved more problematic ? I am tring to 'link' the RFX16 unit with 2 x 703r transmitters, I can get the reciever into learn mode, either -- flashing for the sysetm to allocate the channel or, for instance with 09 flashing (I have configured it to addres from zone 09 onwards). I have the 703r set to have the Ln set to E -enabled; however, with 12v connected the green nlight is on but unless I change the oP there is no activity from the RED LED!! I've tried marrying the both 703rs and have tried both connected to the panel bus …

Hi, I have a house and a detached garage, both currently covered by completely separate wired systems. There are separate Bell Boxes, one on the front of the house and one on the garage. As the house system has become faulty, I am about to replace both systems with 1 Homelink 55. I want to continue to have SABs on both buildings (with the flashing LEDs to prove that they're real). I could just power the unit on the garage (no wires other than power connect from house to garage) and hardwire it so that its just decorative, but wanted to have it operational. I've been looking at the information available and am confused. Can I achieve what I want, i.e. remotely tri…

I have a 10 year old Veritas R8 Plus Control Panel. I would like to add a Veritas Excel RKP (the one with the LCD display). I can see from the Texecom website that the two should be compatible. My question is whether the RKP will be compatible with a control panel which is as old as mine (ie I am worried that there has been a software update or some other change made since my panel went into service which is needed to control the Veritas Excel RKP). Thanks for your help. Chris

My elderly parents have a basic alarm system which has worked perfectly for over 20 years. The control unit has now gone faulty and requires replacement. Could you recommend a replacement unit which only has to cover two PIR zones and one entry/exit. The existing unit is key control under the stairs which is no longer ideal and I would prefer to fit a remote keypad just inside the entrance door. The external box should also be replaced so if you feel a complete kit would be a better deal then if you could recommend one it would be great. I should say that they are now looking to move to a retirement home so the system will probably only have to last them for about a year …

Hi all, Following a burglary at a neighbours house, I'm looking at "self-install" burglar alarms; I've had a couple of quotes from professional installers, and I just can't justify spending the amount they are asking for - especially when prices on here seem so reasonable. Basically, I want a fairly simple wireless system: * main box on the wall under the stairs (where there is power), * 4 wireless door sensors around the house (one on the front door to be entry/exit, and one on the sliding back door to be omitted on a part-set), * one wireless PIR for the lounge (where the dogs never go), * a keypad to arm/disarm by the front door (hardwired to the ma…
