I am looking to find the best option for a complex installation. Any expert recommandation on any of the following issues would be very helpfull and highly rewarded! - the system should accomodate wireless outdoor detectors incl. cameras for video/or image transmission to a surveillance company. - the system should be able to accomodate both wireless and wired connections with about 30 wireless units to be connected and be secured against external perturbation and shall be able to trigger a silent alarm in case of outdoor detection (incl. video or transmission to the surveillance company) and a normal alarm in case of indoor intrusion detection (also with indoor vide…

Hi, My existing system, which is about 15 years old, has become increasingly unreliable and I am now looking to replace the control panel, PIR's and external sounder. I am content with the current layout (four zones with door/window contacts and PAB's as well as PIR's) and the 6-wire cabling and other hardware is in good order. I would like the option of an auto-dialler to provide keyholder/mobile phone contact. I am considering the following items: Control Panel: ADE Optima Compact Gen4 with Enersys 12v 2.1 A/h Battery PIR: 3 x Scantronic 430 Passive Detector Pet Tolerant Sounder: Ventcroft Compact Classic Sounder c/w Cover A…

I was thinking of getting a wireless alarm like powermax with a GSM backup (think it is a good feature to get events sent by sms when kids come home from school and so on). Main reason to have a wireless is that it is easy to install. I have a house with 5 rooms on the groundfloor. There are 11 windows and 4 doors. The thing is that I have a dog and a cat. Weight of the dog is 33kg. So the questions are. 1. Are the pet IR detectors reliable? They say up to 38 kg so is should be ok, but want to avoid false alarms. 2. If I want protect all windows, what would be the best method. Switches and vibrations sensors on all? It will be rather expensive... 3. I've r…

Hi, Need confirmation that the set-up I have listed will all work together, we are ex.UK but now live in Crete where we have built a house without, regretably it now turns out, a hard wired alarm capability. Crete, once relatively crime free, has now gone bad ways and recently our neighbours were robbed and they had 6 dogs loose in the garden! So I am looking to buy and install a wireless system sourced from the UK and need clarification it will all work and is foolproof for even me to fit ! Basic I-ON16 with two PIR's, two remotes, two master blasters. Owing to our secluded position we need to make life miserable enough for the intruder to leave sooner rather t…

(Apologies to those who have seen this post already. I realised that I had posed it on the wrong board.) Hi, I'm looking to purchase an alarm system. Currently my short list of panels are:- Texecom VERITAS EXCEL ADE Accenta Mini Gen4 Scantronic 9651 I was hedging on towards the 9651 until I read about a 'engineer code guard feature' that doesn't seem to work. Here is the link where I stumbled across this issue. Sorry it's a bit long, but towards the end of the page they say that it is a software problem although not openly admitted by the manufacturer. http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/lofiversion/index.php?t24279-0.html I suppose on…

Hi, i need help deciding between a PowerMax + (Visonic) or the Scantronic 9751-EN-00 55K for a 5 bedroom house. I need a 5 PIR, 8-10 shock sensors and 1 door contact with a wired outside bell, with a dial out facility. I also want to be able to hardwire the system to the garage later on. If not is there a better system that you could recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated Many thanks, Surinder J

Is it possible for the main board to become wiped?? The alarm has been installed and was working fine for 2 years until a kitchen refit company decided to cut through three of the cables. (the cable between the control unit and the key pad was NOT cut) I've reconnected the cut cables, and initially the display read "Fuse/Bat Fault" - sure enough the Aux1 fuse had blown so I've replaced this. Now the remote keypad will light up when you power on, but there is no text on the display. I've checked the 3 fuses again, and that there is power to the PCB (17v) and that the power is reaching the keypad (12v) Any ideas on what else to try?? Could a wiring …

I am currently installing an alarm/fire system in my home and have a few questions someone may kindly answer: 1. Does the Eurosec CPX have a built in dialer to call in the event of an alarm (so all I do is add a bt line) and if so does it tell you what the alarm is i.e zone, fire, intruder etc. 2. What type of cable should I use for the smoke heat detecors - normal alarm cable? 3. What smoke heat detecors are compatable with the Eurosec CPX? 4. The alarm unit will be mounted in a seperate room only accesable from outside (it's a outside utility room) although the utility room is secure would it be better to have the main unit within the house? 5. Finally, can you …

I am looking at the few control panels and have a few queries which I hope you can assist with. Install is for detached 5 bed house. Suggestions are: - Texecom Veritas R8 Plus - Scantronic 9651EN - Pyronix Sterling 10 1. Believe all are grade 2 but not entirely clear. Is this correct? 2. All seem to be 8 zone but with the Sterling it has an additional dedicated PA zone. I am correct that on the others would need to allocate 1 of 8 zones for PA? 3. Last install a few years back was a Pyronix Paragon which we had no problems with. Is the new Sterling of similar quality to the Scantronic and Texecom which seem to be a lot more popular? 4. Assume all ha…

  16. Can anyone offer advice on programming the advanced modes of this dialer? I want to enable the option that modifies the dial out sequence such that each of the 4 numbers are dialled once in turn (default mode is for No.1 to be dialled 15 times before moving to No.2) The operation/introduction section of the manual suggests that this option is available, however I can't find the appropriate advanced programming mode/code for this option. Any advice would be appreciated Regards and TIA John

Having just commissioned a 9651 I've been testing out event logging for the system. I isolated the mains supply, hopping to invoke a mains fail alert. The RKP recorded the event properly, but interrogation of the event log showed no mains fail alerts. I carried out this mains fail test for both set and unset modes with the same result. Do I have to enable logging for this type of event somehow, or should it be enabled automatically? Or perhaps there's a timer on mains fail events and I didn't leave the mains off long enough? Any ideas? thanks John

Hi, I would be most grateful if someone could answer the following question regarding this panel as I can't seem to get hold of the installation manual for it. 1. Product description for the Euro Mini says that this panel has 10 EoL zones. Does that mean that it is FSL capable? 2. If so what are the resistor values? 3. I'm assuming that I would require a 12v 7AH backup battery for this panel. Would that be correct? Thanks in advance.

Hello I'm hoping to replace my existing intruder alarm panel with the Scantronic 9561 series panel. I do see that securitywarehouse is selling both the EN, and UK models of 9561. Now I know that 9561EN is a grade 2 alarm, and that 9561UK is ungraded. Are there any other differences in the two? Basically my question boils down to: Which one of the two should I go for, considering the fact that its going to be DIY installation, so do I need the EN model? Is the UK model flushed with older software in comparison to the EN model? Why is the 9561UK slightly more expensive than the 9561EU, even though the EU model is graded, whereas the UK model is not? 24. Hi, I'm looking to install an alarm system for a steel shed with no windows. Alarms are all very new to me so I'd appreciate some advice. What I want to achieve is: - An audible alarm activated when the door is opened. - A system that runs on mains power, but which has a battery backup of at least 2 weeks. - Preferably some way of disabling the alarm before entering the shed, avoiding the need to have a period to allow for a code/key to be used to disable the alarrm once the door is open. - Surface contact sensors on the door. Is this achievable, or am I looking for something that doesn't exist? I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has any. All advice gr…

I have a Cooper SD2+ connected to a system and working fine using the O2 SMS centre. I have been asked to switch this to using the BT Text service so that use can be made of the bundled free texts with the BT phone line. Not an unreasonable request. The problem is that I have tried almost every setting to get this unit to work with BT Text and have even had a BT engineering helping but to no avail. (message centre number 1470 P 17094009) Has anyone else found this to be a problem or managed to solve it? If so could you post the settings and procedure. Thanks
