Intruder Alarms

Hope someone can give some help or suggestions. After being broken into earlier in the year, I have finally got round to installing the alarm system that was purchased a couple of months ago. Every thing seems to work, that is after a minor wiring fault on the global system tamper, which turned out to be poor connection on vibration sensor (front door). The problem is the external sounder will not function at all, apart from the tamper circuit. There is definitely power from the control panel and the standby battery has 8 volts. My existing panel was faulty so I puchased a Risco Gartec 490x from you. I liked it beacuse it is hybrid wireless and we are having an extension built, which will make it easy to add additional movement detectors. The control panel and keypad are installed and work fine apart from one problem. I get a warning - off chg volts high / battery/fuse fault - it takes a about 30 minutes after exiting the engineer mode for the fault to register. Its a new battery (again purchased from you) and the fuses are all Ok - any ideas what I have done wrong. Also given that I am not a registered installer will Risco technical help talk to me or am I on my own. regards

Hi, I've just installed a Scantronic Homelink55 and the hardwired side of this has worked perfectly straight away. However the wireless side has proved more problematic ? I am tring to 'link' the RFX16 unit with 2 x 703r transmitters, I can get the reciever into learn mode, either -- flashing for the sysetm to allocate the channel or, for instance with 09 flashing (I have configured it to addres from zone 09 onwards). I have the 703r set to have the Ln set to E -enabled; however, with 12v connected the green nlight is on but unless I change the oP there is no activity from the RED LED!! I've tried marrying the both 703rs and have tried both connected to the panel bus …

Hi, I have a house and a detached garage, both currently covered by completely separate wired systems. There are separate Bell Boxes, one on the front of the house and one on the garage. As the house system has become faulty, I am about to replace both systems with 1 Homelink 55. I want to continue to have SABs on both buildings (with the flashing LEDs to prove that they're real). I could just power the unit on the garage (no wires other than power connect from house to garage) and hardwire it so that its just decorative, but wanted to have it operational. I have a 10 year old Veritas R8 Plus Control Panel. I would like to add a Veritas Excel RKP (the one with the LCD display). I can see from the Texecom website that the two should be compatible. My question is whether the RKP will be compatible with a control panel which is as old as mine (ie I am worried that there has been a software update or some other change made since my panel went into service which is needed to control the Veritas Excel RKP). My elderly parents have a basic alarm system which has worked perfectly for over 20 years. The control unit has now gone faulty and requires replacement. Could you recommend a replacement unit which only has to cover two PIR zones and one entry/exit. The existing unit is key control under the stairs which is no longer ideal and I would prefer to fit a remote keypad just inside the entrance door. The external box should also be replaced so if you feel a complete kit would be a better deal then if you could recommend one it would be great. I should say that they are now looking to move to a retirement home so the system will probably only have to last them for about a year …

Hi all, Following a burglary at a neighbours house, I'm looking at "self-install" burglar alarms; I've had a couple of quotes from professional installers, and I just can't justify spending the amount they are asking for - especially when prices on here seem so reasonable. diy er order no#6419. have system installed and seems ok but not fully tested yet! in the absence of the installation manual could you help with some zone terminology. monitor, Ln fault and fault....then normal ky, bias ky, remove+ and remove-. anybody help as to why the is no 13v supply from the circuit board which means no supply to the pirs or door sensors. this is a new installation. all fuses checked ok but no back light to key pad either. I can put panel into engineering mode and day mode but that is all. All wiring has been removed and any links refitted but still nothing from the 13v. hope someone can help!

I'm looking to fit ADE Honeywell Accenta Gen 4 LCD compact kit shown on the website but want to confirm that all component's meet the minimum of Grade 2, should I chose a different spec PIR for the Kitchin concerned about it in long term. Fianlly can I get the system to trigger the exterior lighting. Richard

I have a new optima accenta gen 4 panel and an existing pyronix belle box. I have wiring diagrams for both but need help as to which wires go where! I wish to purchase an alarm system. I want high security, minimum false alarms and ease of installation. Ive been looking at Freewave, Risco and Visionic wireless systems. Downsatirs I have 3 living rooms and Kitchen each with a door which opens into a large hall (5 PIR ?). I have a few questions about this product that I am hoping someone can answer. 1. The product has an in-built microphone. Is it also possible to attach an external microphone (like Texecom's voice dialler)? 2. Are the remote functions (e.g. memo playback, listen in etc) accessible through both the GSM route and the normal telephone line. 3. What's the best method for provide back-up power? Thanks.

I am upgrading the alarm system in my home and I am looking for... 1/. A quality detector to use in my conservatory which, being on the SW side of the house, experiences very high temperatures in the summer the obvious changes from direct sunlight to shade. I also have a problem in that the ideal location - where the sun will not strike the unit - has a piece of furniture obstructing. So I can only site in a position where at times the sun may actually strike the unit. Ideally I would like a unit that incorporates glass break detection 2/. We have a log cabin. Hi, I wish to intall a wireless alarm system that includes both an wireless external sounder/strobe and a wireless smoke detector. My question is which is the best, it is for a 3 bedroom house, I have had the Powermax plus before and never had any issues but there was never the choice that seems to be around now. I have a Scantronic 9210 Intruder system with a flush fitting keypad in the lounge. I know this panel is obsolete but does anyone know of a panel that offers a flush fitting panel as an option if it dies. The wife's not to keen on a 6" x 9" hole left in the lounge wall $ I.m not keen to redecorate the lounge!!
