Micheal The silverline unit you have referenced is a 480tvl model, where as the secware one is a 420tvl model so the sensor element on the silverline has a better spec. However the secware unit has a varifocal lens (adjustable zoom) so if far more flexible. If you have a look at the secware SECWARED007 this is a 480tvl unit with varical lens as well. we cant support zoneminder here (but vmware does not support pci pass though so your card will never work as a virtual machne) but to choose a camera you need to consider a few factors. what do you want to capture (also any system that captures PAL composite images will be capturing an interlcaed image. This doenst work well with digital capture so most machines use a format called CIF or 2CIF. Both only capture the ODD or EVEN lines. see http://www.axis.com/products/video/camera/progressive_scan.htm for a full explanation as to why so you can only really capture up to 288 vertical pixels with normal composite cameras. So dont do your calculations on capture res at 576 pixels (most pal can support) as you will not be capturing at that res. Its difficult to advise how to work this out (it takes a lot of training and experience) on a forum in a few lines. but a good quick way is to use your camera phone at its lowest res or the ress that closly matches your capture resolution to work out views required.

A yale system will be far easier to fit if your looking for easy, but obviously this is not a pro solution. Pro systems are far harder to install and configure so as your looking for diy type gear id suggest you stay with yale. Do you mean wireless images as well? This can be very expenisve to achieve, but you need to know what recievers your monitoring station have, this will then dictate what tranmitters you need. That is not a wireless unit, but i dont understand...immunity from what? Any Grade 3 detector would provide mask detection. again this depends on your transmitter, you would usually connect the transmitter to an external amplifier and horn speakers, ie a PA system. what do you mean by access key? Is there a key cam lock securing the unit? If so you will need to ask the maintainer/installer of the system as without that key there is not a lot you can do. Support

if you dont disable high security engineer access then its not a problem as the engineer code wont work without a valid user code either set or unset. Its a good idea not to disable this feature anyway. My reasoning for honeywell or texecom for most jobs is because they are easier to work on. The texecom manuals are the best out there.

the front door contact is not essential but i would recommend. Yes you could house a speaker in the decoy box but this isnt the best way, the best way is to have it in the hallway etc. You need some sort of feedback from the alarm so you can tell its armed etc. the shutdown period is to save the battery life, ie if the rrom has been empty for say 5 mins then on detection it will transmit. As you move around the room on your normal daily routine, if it were to transmit every time it would exhaust the battery very quickly. This shut down stops it transmitting until the unit hasnt detected motions for some time.

it seems you have decided on the ion so i wont dwell on that (fine panel mind) I would strongly advise you do use door contacts anyway as wireless pirs shutdown for 3 -5 mins (depending on brand) from the last activity to save battery life. Door contacts dont do this and detect every opening and closing. If you use handheld rf fobs (as opposed to remote keypads) then you can arm from outside. You will need to wire an internal speaker from the panel so that you can here it arming.

Pete The CPX will accept any battery upto 7A/h YOu need to size it on the system size. Most people however just use a 7A/h battery always. The only panel that needs care are the compact units (ie the honeywell optima/accenta and the veritas) which will only take a 2.1A/h. But yes if you dont want the dialler then an optima (with a 2.1A/h) and the tritechs will be fine. Support
