System Replacement Galaxy 2-20?
Yes, those are compatible, but using wireless does limit you to that manufacturer. ie if you want to use say a bosch tri-tech or a crow etc. Wired gives more flexibilty of equipment.. but obviously needs wires. Support

Replacement for existing control unit
4 wires wil only allow door contacts or movement sensors without a tamper circuit. this would require 6 wires to comply and use a normal double pole arrangement. we cant offer support to non pro installers. Id look at a panel that offers eol wiring configuration as this will allow both alarm and tamper signals down 2 wires. many panels offer this though few bottom end ones do. if you only have 2 circuits id suggest one of the honeywell basic kits with 2 pir's and add your own sounder. obviously this will require re cabling. modern sab sounders require 5 wires minimum so this will probably require a new cable anyway. Have a look at the accenta if recabling or the texecom premier if using existing cable. There are cheaper panels than thr premier but the manuals are superb for the begineer. Support

Wanted: Advise on a DIY install system
Galaxy is just a professional personal preference from working with these things in the field. You can fit diallers to either panels ie an sd1+ dialler to get normal voice dialler functionality on either system. Nacoss sint just about insurance but it is driven by insurance as they want someone to certify it actually works and that all company employees are vetted etc. Plus that the company will be around in a few years to service. Much like i suppose servicing your car yourself. Support

Wanted: Advise on a DIY install system
Robin There are large differences and positive reasons for having a pro installed system, ideally an approved system, ie NACOSS but ill try to answer your query. You have a few choices depeding upon the brand your after, id look at the galaxy 2-20 rf kit. http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1632 or cheaper kit http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=579 you will also need an rf reciever for this panel http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1149 then add your wireless sensors to suit. Id recommend the galaxy. If requiring external wireless PIR's you will need to look at the risco as they do the Wireless Watchout http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1407 or if using wired a GJD opal elite http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=441 Id advise against using this to activate the alarm as external sensors will false alarm, ie fox's sunlight etc. The CPX includes a basic voice dialler, and the galaxy includes a text messaging modem for basic signalling, both include proper communicators for connecting to an alarm recieving centre.

Help with new risco panel
You might find one, but id advise you find your contractor first. Also you will need a prosys installer. You can add keypads to it but you will need to correct keypad for your version of panel. Im guessing you have just bought a panel only? It is suitable for home use, but its supposed to be a pro only panel due to its complexity. We currently cant supply it without written approval from risco.

Help with new risco panel
Jay The prosys is a great panel, but is only available through official channels if you have had the full training and are a professional installer. It is defenetly one for the pro's. Hopefully you will get full docs with it etc. Risco wont support it unless you hold a valid training cert. We only supply ProSYS's with that info. Let us know how you get on. Support

Menvier SD3 Voice Dialler with GSM
The mic is indeed pcb mounted, while technically possible to extend, it wouldnt be supported. You are going to need some sort of psu. Im assuming that you will be running this from an intruder panel. If so this has its own 12v backup system that will also run your dialler. If your concerned that severing the wire betwen the panel and dialler is a risk then id suggest a dialler isnt secure enough in this instance and you should be looking at redcare or dualcom etc. The only units that offer remote mics are the texecom and pyronix units. All units suffer from the reliabilty if the sms service centre you use, im not aware that the texecom is worse than any other, but the gsm units are better as they dont have to dial the centre via the land line, and are caperble of texting in the conventional way. If your after dialin facility primerly there are audio verification systems that are designed for this, the diallers offer a very basic version of this.
