  1. Hi I have just installed a new Accenta G4 Compact with LCD keypad. I am quite confident that all is wired correctly. I note the Engineer's manual tells you to connect all the zones, tamper, pa circuits and then speakers. First question - the manual tells you to make sure that the factory fitted links are connected to the PA, TAMP and T-A. Surely this would mean that these functions would not work if these links were left in as they would be permanently shorted? I have checked all these circuits and they are closed (short) and therefore I assume I may disregard this. Second question - On page 14 the manual instructs you to connect the mains and it says t…

  2. My question is why does the battery fuse blow every time I connect the battery? The battery is being connected the right way round. I disconnect the battery, change the fuse and reconnect the battery - the fuse blows. I've been doing this with the mains power on, so not to activate the siren. Is the battery or control panel faulty, or do I need to completely power down before changing the fuse (I can't see how this would change anything)?

  3. I am considering buying some honeywell equipment to upgrade my alarm to wireless. Firstly I just wanted to check that all the components are fully compatible with the Galaxy G2 panel (I have the G2-20, or actually the G2-12 as it is not expanded), and that it will support this many sensors. I am using the 660 in conjunction with a scantronic 500r. The panel is 12v removed for alarm and the 660 is the opposite. The instalation guide refers to a dip switch to change the polarity. I cannot identify this on the board. Any ideas .

I've bought a Visonic keypad KP-160 PG2. According to the manual, it should be possible to use an optional power source (5-12V DC) instead of batteries. Where can I buy such a power supply? Thanks

i may need to put in a dialler later if the customer wants it. Which version will accept an internal card? The spec sheet implies that the compact will not but the other two versions will?

  15. So I am sorry in advance for the many questions, but I would rather ask that mess something up. I have decided to install my own wired alarm at home which is working out cheaper than the wireless options in the shops, I have opted for a Texecom Veritas Excel with LCD keypad, Texecom PIR's, Contacts, ext bell and also a Pyronix twin speaker/internal siren. First question - Should my brand new alarm panel smell (like electrical burny smell) ? Are they tested before being sent out. NO evidence of ever being fitted and no signs of board damage or heat exchange to components. It is brand new .... not refurbed or used. Secondly, I am putting the main control panel …

  16. Started by Secware,

Our premises has a security system supplied by you (quite a while ago now) and is fitted with a Honeywell AG6 external sounder. I need to disconnect the mains as well as the battery for an extended period and, after putting in the engineer code can remove various items, but when I remove the battery, the AG6 sounder keeps sounding. How do I switch this off?

Enforcer wireless alarm about a year ago which i purchase for you. this has been work fine. until just recently it came up with a battery fault. I have changed all the batteries in the sensors, and done a battery check and signal strength test, and they have shown as ok. the alarm has been working for a week since this, and now has displayed an error again of, unable to set 01 wireless low battery. I have done the battery and signal test again, and has come back as ok.

We are a new organisation in southern Spain, a couple of elderly ex-pats who have become sick of the growing number of burglaries in the area. It is working well as we purchase kits from the internet and we are installing them and then using local labour, responding via GSM and arriving on site within 4-6 minutes. It has proved very successful in its first 3 weeks. However,we have one problem which is causing us grief and we are unable to remedy it. We suffer from frequent power cuts here, sometimes the rapid ones on and off for several minutes, and that can be day or night. As you may imagine, this activates the message to our phones and then re-sets only to go off again…

  19. I purchased a Ventcroft Compact Classic Sounder form you recently. Having fitted it though I cannot get the strobe to operate. Everything else operates as it should. I already retrned on but have the same issue with this one. Its connected to a Veritas Compact 8 panel. I have checked and do get 12volts across STB- and 12v+ hold off. Is there anything particular with this panel that I am unaware of.

  20. Hi, Just wondering if the above is a straight swap, we have found a number of simple GL's on doors that would be somewhat better/safer with contacts, Many thanks, Mark

  21. I've got the issue with ADE Honeywell Easy Set bought from you about 2 years ago. It requires resetting(cutting the power off) at least twice a year. Is it a known issue with these? Basically the keyfobs stop functioning and reset always helps when it happen.

  22. Started by Secware,

I purchased an alarm system last year, and until today has worked without fault, however, when my Wife tried to set our alarm in the usual way using the ADE Simple Set she was unable to do so. When I came home I also tried without success. The unit shows both Power & Day lights but when either a 'learnt' or an 'unlearnt' fob is offered to the unit there is no response regardless of the length of time the fob is held against the unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The unit is less than 12 months old
