Intruder Alarms

Intruder alarms, programming, design advise, detector selection.

  1. Hi there, I have a Yale Smartphone alarm system which works fine. I also have some extra CCTV cameras looking out the front and back of my house. I spend a lot of time working away and the house is fairly remote. I really want to be able to trigger a siren if I see someone snooping around the property at night, and I dont want to wait until someone has actually broken in! I use powerswitches that can be activated through my smartphone to turn on anything plugged in - lights etc (Yale Easy Fit Power Switch For Easy Fit). What I would like to do is plug in a very loud siren that can then be activated through my smartphone via one of these switches. Would any of the Klax…

  2. Are there any other simple alarms which are able to be controlled by an app as the Flex is? We are currently looking at the Honeywell Galaxy Flex 20.

  4. Started by Secware,

Hi, We have one a 'Gardtec 800' system installed in a premises in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland. We need to order a new Keypad for the system, as the display is not functioning correctly. It is a 6 wired keypad. Could you recommend a keypad, or would it be best to completely replace the control box and keypad panel? If we could get your advise on the above it would be much appreciated.

  5. I have just installed an Accenta Mini Gen 4. I am using zone 2 on the panel as as inhibited (default setting) when I set the panel it show zone 2 as an error as it detects the operator in the exit zone. The alarm sets ok after you exit the property as the error clears. Upon re-entry zone 2 is inhibited ok as the alarm is not activated. I would have thought that the zone 2 should also be inhibited in the exit mode and not show an error on the panel. Is this correct.

  6. Started by Secware,

I am looking to replace the scantronic alarm system I have (the ion 16 as I have found it quite poor). I am wanting something like the new Visonic (with Visonic PowerG KP-160 Black Touch Screen Arming Station c/w Prox). Can you advise of what I need and costings? Ideally I want: 2 Pet PIR's, 1 door contact, 2 control units with 4 proixi tags 1 outdoor siren Can these be self fit?

  7. I need to replace the battery in my Scantronic 9651, but can't find this on your website. Please advise the name of the battery.

  8. Started by Secware,

Hi there, I'm trying to source the components for an alarm kit for a building which is divided into two with two separate doors, but ideally one common alarm system. I have worked out that I need - Bellbox (external) - Keypad x2 (RFID/Tag or similar would be great!) - PIR x 3 - Control Box with backup battery - Door contact x 3 - Cable & Clips Would you be able to advise in which products you think would be most suitable?

  10. Hi there, i bought one of these pirs in my last order. I fit it and was sure it was working but i tested it the other day and it doesnt seem to be working correctly. It does not trigger the alarm, seems that it is permanently closed. Is there something i need to do, ie change the factory settings on the sensor or does it need returning? Regards

  12. I am looking at purchasing the Honeywell Galaxy Flex 20 UK Panel together with ESP Fireline smoke and heat detectors. Can these be used in conjunction with one another i.e. integrate the detector system into the alarm panel, setting it up as a fire zone? Or are the ESP Fireline detectors only suitable for a fire panel?

  13. All four (IS215T)of the pir's not working thus setting the zones as triggered, i tested the board and you get 13v across the two terminals, if you loop out each zone the alarm works fine. But obviously has a fault on it, to wipe out 4 pirs all at once. There is no explanation to why they have been set off, as the room was empty, then another pir would do the same, but on a different time of day etc this is without the alarm being set, no tamper is being recorded on the LCD key pad. Now all four zones with these pir's fitted have the alarm triggered on walk test and the alarm wont set, there is 13v power at the panel and the pir end all wires have been continuity check…

  14. I want to install a Texecom intruder alarm system into an apartment to replace a very basic RISCO panel. This has four wired RISCO PIR detectors and single entrance door with contact switch. It has one remote keypad My requirements are to keep the exiting PIRs and contact switch. Replace the keypad and have an auto dialler connected to analogue telephone. However I would like the option to send additional details alerts (stating what activated the alarm) via text message or email, and have the ability to view the event log via a PC as well as program and interrogate the control panel over TCP/IP. I don't know the Texecom products very well but it looks like I would need…

  15. I am only using 6 zones & no PA. I have programmed zones 1-6 as used and 7 & 8 as unused. When I try the Walk Test as soon as I input '0' for the test, zones 7&8 LEDs light up and an intermittent tone sounds. Any ideas??

  16. On the display screen two lines of Pixels have failed making it difficult to read what is on the lower part of the screen, I have re-booted the unit but there is no change. Do you have any further suggestions for rectifying the fault?

  17. I have a system that is activating as soon as the full system set is applied and timed to set. It sets ok in part, however there are no open zones to activated the system. Tamper circuit is also fine. Any help is appericated.

  18. Please can somebody tell me if the Honeywell SEF8M will work with a Flex 20 panel and RF Portal (A073-00-01) Thank you

  20. Started by ask121,

I have a cooper security 9651 panel. I'm rewiring the panel from global tamper to FSL because i've been told its more secure. I've wired single PIR zones with no trouble but when there is more than one PIR or surface contact or Panic button it shows tamper in walk test. If I one device is open at once in a zone, its fine but if I open two or more devices in one zone, the panel detects tamper. (E.g. When I open one door in Zone 7, the panel doesn't say tamper but when I open a door and a window in Zone 7 the panel will detect tamper) Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks Krishan

  21. Started by billtsag,

Good morning to all! I just purchased a Visonic 33 kit from SecWare, and I am experiencing trouble with regards to the communication between the panel and KP 250 keypad. I already opened a ticket with Support and awaiting instructions. Quite often the keypad stops responding whilst a "communicating..." message is displayed. In that case I need to remove the batteries from the keypad to get it working again.. Sometimes communication between keypad and panel is lost completely (a message "no communication" is displayed). The keypad and the panel are in close proximity and I tried relocating both units to no effect. Also, enrolling devices is a hit and miss situatio…

  22. I was thinking about additional shock or contact protection for UPVC french doors in the kitchen at the back of the house. I'll have a PIR covering the kitchen area already, it's only a small one, but was thinking about something like the Viper GLX contacted sensor. I know that obviously shock sensors work better/best on a wooden framed doors/windows and obviously UPVC frames are affected by heat expansion etc. What are you thoughts on it, would you recommend it? Or just stick with contacts instead. Thanks in advance.

  23. Started by Secware2,

  24. I need to replace an ADE id plus system but without replacing the cabling, do you offer a new system which will work with the id plus cabling?

  25. Started by Secware2,

I have Scantronic 762 dual channel receiver that currently works with two 738r shock sensors. I wish to swap out one of these sensors for a PIR unit but a) do not know if one channel would be enough for a PIR , and which PIR to buy. (I am told that that I need a Scantronic 700r series item.) Can you please advise.
