Accenta LCD keypad backlight
Ravis, i think Bobs intention was to have the backlight illuminated all the time, not just during keypress's etc.

Fire/smoke alarms
Id recommend the M12 detector here. Utilises 6 core intruder cable, is 12v and has a N/C relay. Is programmable for optical smoke/ fixed heat/ rate of rise heat. http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=638

EOL(9) wiring
Also the spec of the resistor is relevant, you can use any that match that spec. I would suggest they are 4k7 not 47k. We do have packs of resistors for various panels listed. But as above i would of assumed a pack would come witrh the panel

Accenta LCD keypad backlight
BOb There is an unsupported way. The Accenta keypad uses 2 transistors to control the backlight. These can be bypassed. Obviously any pcb mod will invalidate the warranty and is not a security warehouse supported mod. Anyway I have attached a picture showing the location of the transistors.

Accenta Gen 4 LCD : advice, please
MIght be easier and more stable to add a gsm dialler with hardwired inputs.

EOL(9) wiring
no if you use eol without pairing you will have 8 zones, but with individual tamper detection. using zone doubling would give 16 circuits

Viasonic PIR false alarm
AGreed, i would swap the sensor with another room to see if the fault moves. If it did then i would assume the unit was faulty. Another test after that is to mask the unit completly.

Accenta Gen 4 LCD : advice, please
Great thanks As you have a high security Grade 3 contact there it needs to be a little closer. As a temp measure for testing, remove the magney and temp affix next to the contact (ie right next to it) and it should clear. James

Don What colours have you connected from the contact to the panel?

type of zones in eurosec/risco CPX
As previous post let us know your order number and we can send an engineering manual. James

Viasonic PIR false alarm
Good actions so far. Is it always the same pir? If so what room is it and do you have any stairs etc in view. The biggest problem with cars and pet pirs is them getting close to the sensor ie within 6ft or so. Is that possible? The cold can and does affect pir's but im assuming your house is heated so the temp will be pretty constant. Also with temp compensating pir's they would get less sensitive in a cold environment not more (its easier for the sensor to see body heat when its colder)

CPX programming guide/manual
you will need to isolate the unused zones or leave them linked out. If you let me know your order number we can send you an engineering manual for the panel.

Recommendations for Alarm System
I concur with fastcar. Whilst you can wire more than 8 detectors from an accenta/optima it is not recommended and if relevant will not comply. ALso you will not be able to identify the detector that alarmed etc. Both panels mentioned (premier / galaxy) are fine panels. Depending on ultimate flexability req the premier is more powerful than the G2 range.

Pairing Powermax + devices
re the keypad issue. Is it working at all? If so which functions can you perform and which cant you. re sounder issue, how old is your powermax (ie what revision board / order date) as only later versions accept the fully wireless sounder. How many sounders do you currently have on the system?

Scantronic 500r+ Alarm system
Cazza. Are you sure you learnt the fob into the system? Its usually in cases like this the fob has not been learnt in correctly.

optima compact gen 4 alarm wont go off
Could you posta a picture of one of the sensors wiring and your panel wiring. Sounds like you have left the EOL resistors in the sensors? James

internal sounder for eurosec CPX
The keypad will also emit entry exit sounds, but obviosly at a lower volume. The Eurosec comes with a small extension speaker that can be mounted seperate to the panel.

Alarm upgrade question
Id agree with your panel choice but the 2-20 will do sms messaging over its modem, but the g2-44 will also accept a gsm card. This is only usually used where a phone line is not available. But both panels can send sms messaging and digital signalling using its digi modem. I wouldnt buy the 2-20 kit but you could add a wireless portal to a 2-20. ie http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1385 This is the 2-20 panel that comes with a built in proximity reader in the keypad http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=192 Then you can add wireless detectors etc as required. With the galaxy 2 series once you add an rf portal you can use all 20 circuits as wireless. There are 12 circuits onboard the panel. If you use say 8 of the on board circuits that allows 12 wireless etc etc.

old pyronix magnum spp passive
Just noticed you put the sensor in the title. Sorry about that C+ is the Latch Freeze inout E- is the LED enable FTA is the first to alarm link if linking multiple detectors.
-
old pyronix magnum spp passive
Without Knowing the sensor its hard to say Id suggest that FTA is first to alarm. THis would suggest there is more than 1 sensor on the zone and the device is latching E- could be LED Enable - C+ i dont know. Risco quads are good units, i personally wouldnt always spec a quad in a domestic, unless there was a reason. Usually go for a good dual edge PIR
