  1. Thanks, have done and the issue is now resolved. It appeared that whoever wrote down the wire colours in the old alarm didn't know their greens from their blues so I had them back the front (i.e the strobe triggered to the bell). Fixed this and now all is working well, thanks for your advice.
  2. I first tried using the Green to the strobe negative with no luck so then have tried in the positive but still no good. I had originally hooked the Blue auxiliary to the bell negative also and thought that this may be the problem. On another note the T and A connections still have the original loop in them as it came out of the box if this makes any difference. As far as the make goes, it is branded British Gas and given the rest of the alarm, I assume that it also is a DSC. Plus from what I have read it had its own battery which is what I assumed the AUX wire was for. I have not yet climbed up to look at it but can if you suggest, the wiring instructions that I have were written in the old box by the original installer. Thanks
  3. Hi, I seem to have my Gen 4 almost working as desired with my existing BG (DSC) equipment, however for the life of me I cannot seem to get the strobe light working. The Bell will work but not the strobe. The existing bell box wires where listed as (+) Red, (-) Black (which I have hooked both of these up to the bell connectors), AUX = Blue and Strobe = Green. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Thanks, both of you. You where correct, there were resistors in all of the PIRs. These have now been removed and rewired and all seems to be well. The main issue that seemed to throw me was that the magnetic door sensor wouldn't work, even when wired on its own. But this ended up being faulty and now replaced all is functioning as designed. Next to see how 'Pet Safe' the pet-safe sensors are (30kg dog)... Thanks for all your assistance.
  5. Hi James, Thanks for the reply, please find photos attached. This is with my final configuration with only a magnetic door sensor hooked up on zone 1 to test. This sensor appeared to send a signal to the existing alarm when I opened the door.
  6. Hi I am having a similar issue where I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I decided to go for the Gen4 as it appeared to be a more simple solution to upgrade my existing BG DSC alarm system. I am linking 6 sensors (1 magnetic door and 5 PIR) that where on the existing system. I have connected the 13v and 0v wires together as per the previous alarm and the wiring diagram which left me with 2 other wires for each sensor (as the existing sensors don't appear to have tamper connections). Under the above configuration, the walk test appears not to detect the connected sensors triggering. All the sensors seem to be identified as zones 7 and 8 both have 1's listed and also I have tried to remove them all and just leave the magnetic door sensor but still no luck, just a 0. The only issues I can think of are: - The sensors I have are not compatible? (To little resistance...) - This is something to do with the tamper setting, currently it still has the loop left in as I have no wires connected here - It is to do with the way I connected the Bell Box as the existing one only had 4 wires (but this appears to work when I first turn the unit on, 13v = 13v, 0v = 0v, Stobe = -Strobe and Aux = 0v) Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Thanks so much for your reply. Few quick questions if I may, I do not really want to use a landline but rather a mobile sim card so I assume that would limit me to the 2-44? Can you recommend the best 2-44 kit for my needs (is there one with the wireless receiver and proximity sensor included?) So far I have found the following combination: Kit: http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1376 Wifi Receiver: http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1385 Door sensors: http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_60&products_id=725[/url] One other option I did stumble across was the following kit as it appeared to already have the ability to take a gsm sim card unless I read it incorrectly: http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2065 Many thanks.
  8. Hi, I am looking to upgrade my home alarm system and after reviewing your forum have a few questions that I hope you can help me with so that I order to correct system (and compatible components). Essentially, I have a new build with the developer fitted DCS Alarm branded as British Gas which seems to not meet any of my requirements. Basically I am hoping to upgrade this to something more usable and compatible with pets i.e. something that I can adjust zones (regions) as I see fit as the dog is quite large. I have contacted 3 of the larger installers in my area and given that two never kept their appointment and the other quoted just under
