Hi, Can I please ask for some help on choosing a new alarm system for my 4 bed semi house with a garage on the side. The garage has a flat roof and there is a new flat roof extension being built at the back which will give access to 2 bedrooms. I have a living room at the front and a study on one side. The open plan kitchen/diner will have large folding patio doors at the back. The house is being completely gutted so hard wiring is not a problem and I have builders and electrician in at the moment re-wiring the place. I have been told about the Scantronic 9651 and 9751 systems and i would like a bell on the outside with LED lights and a number pad that can be cont…

  13. Having had a Texecom R8 installed since 1996 the only thing that has now failed is the "5" on the Keypad, so I have replaced the old one with new 2010 version. The swap out has worked fine, but the Red Zone 1 & 3 lamps are on all the time, I have check the wiring and all is OK, and I have done the the scan for Keypads "0 9" from the new keypad, all appears to be OK, but the the Red Zone 1 & 3 lamps remain on (on the keypad) Date stamp on the Main box is also 1996, so is this a backwards compatabity issue with the new keypad and the old main box?

  14. I have an existing system with a Scantronic 500+ control panel but have no instruction manual. I know the access code but I don't know the engineers code or anything else about it. I have replaced all the batteries in the system but have triggered the Tamper alarm and I don't know how to reset this. If I replace the existing control panel with a new 500+ then: 1. Can I programme this with my own engineer code and entry code ? 2. Can I use my existing PIR's (Type 520r) and keypad (Type524r) ? 3. Does the instruction manual contain all the information I need to do the above ? 4. Is there a simpler solution to my problem ? Thanks in anticipation of some good advi…

  16. Maybe unwisely, I have bought a used SD1+ Speech Dialler to replace a twelve year old model that failed to respond to all the helpful advice you gave me back in February. I have carried out a factory restart, as described in the manual, and have created a 'NEWCODE'. However, when I try to program telephone numbers from 'READY' and press'ENT', the LCD still shows 'READY'! Again from 'READY', if I press 'O' 'CLEARBY' is indicated. But pressing 'B', 'CLEARBY' still remains on the LCD! Please can you help me!

  21. I am replacing my old alarm system. I have done some research and it appears Scantronic are a good make in terms of functionality and reliability and come recomended from a colleague who has installed them previously. I have a wired sounder at present and want to maintain the wired asoect if possible. I'm looking at: i-on16 Control Panel (1) 714 Wireless PIR (6) Wireless door contacts - brown (2) Compatible wired sounder or the wireless one for i-on16 Please advise if the above are all compatable and what is my best option for a sounder. Also would the wireless PIR work in my detached garage? It's approximately10 metres from the control panel location.

  22. Just instaled the panel, remote key pad and sounder and pirs. Firstly the instructions didn't match the sounder terminals with the panel but I think I may have sorted it know but the proble I have is as soon as I connect the sounder battery jumper the sounder goes off this happens with the panel wired and powered on fully disconnected from the panel. I have the system up and running if I put itI into alarm I get nothing from the main sounder sound or strobe but the sounder in the remote key pad sounds Please can you help?

  23. Can you help with my optima compact 8ep 396a? When setting the alarm i cannot set a program ie part set( prog 2 ) it defaults to prog 1.

Hi, I'm after some advice on my Accenta G4 system, as with most good DIY project a purchased it a few months ago and only reently got round to fitting it (a wedding got in the way). Anyway i've installed it and powered the system up and two issues occur. 1) There is no power on light on the system or the key pad (or any light on any of the sensors). 2) Although the key pad (and alarm) operates (i'm assuming from the battery), when i enter the security code on the kep pad it says tamper lockout. Now i can accept that there may be a tamper fault somewhere but i wondering first whether its all related to the power problem and whether there is perhaps a f…
