Motorised bells should be ok. But yes he is correct. Solenoid bells can create large 'back emf' that will damage the control panel.
It can be done but the bell needs to be isolated from the control panel. You will also then need to protect the dedicated psu used to drive it.
Its cheaper and better to use a modern electronic sounder unit, unless you have a real need for it then id avoid.

I want to use 12volt bells as my warning devices but I've been told that they will burn out the microprocessors on modern control panels. Is this just a way for the trade installer to put me off doing it myself or is there any truth in what he's saying.
the 8 core will be fine just leave 2 of the cores spare.
re the speaker you can't run that from the keypad.
its also not advised to run a speaker signal with any other cables. it would work but can cause data corruption on the keypad lines. your mileage may vary
All the rf equipment we stock is 868 MHz as that is the current UK freq. Unless its stated as we do stock some older 433 etc parts for older system expansion.
yes you would need to recable. If you used an EOL panel you could use 2 cores for power and 2 for zone. You would need to remove the power to reset them after an alarm. SO you either need a panel that has that output or remove the power via a switch.
The powermax will do what you want and you can connect to it from a computer. However this isnt IP and the pc must dial the panel. This may be a problem to you.
You might want to look at the scantronic i-on40 as this has remote access via iphone, netbook etc.
Im afraid i dont know anything about the 'KNX' system. The powermax does have an x10 module.
An earth fault is usually due to a cable fault or a core shorting to earth somewhere. You will need to find and recitify this before anything else.
8 zone panels are the same just bigger. Ensure you havnt connected the cable shield (it isnt a functional earth) to any devices or back boxes.
Some of the scantronic panels have anaylsed zones so this might be an obvious choice.
Other that that you will need an analyser for the non powered initia sensors, or replace them with powered versions.
just to add for future reference not all rf devices are inter compatible. Some are but as a rule you need to sue the same brand throughout on the wireless side.

The ex35r is a low power pir designed for connection to a transmitter board. They do not include the transmitter board as you use the one compatible with your receiver. The model you quote is unknown to me so i cant help directly.
But if you use a universal transmitter in the space behind the sensor it will work with your system
you cant use normal intruder cable in an area that will be wet, over time pvc cables go pourus and you will have problems with any quality of cable. You need a direct burial or duct grade cable, unless its kept 100% dry. If its dry then id go with the better cable.
The domonial is 'tricky' to program so unless you have had the training then i would suggest it wasnt for you.
The domonial is a 'wireless only' produce so you can only use domonial equipment on it.
It is an excellent product but unless you have the training id avoid.
I would say yes but it depends
as a rule our own branded cable will be fine but if your approaching limits (ie 1km cable runs etc) then good branded cable has its advantages.
A lot of people insist on high end branded equipment including cable.
if your running 20m runs under floor boards then you wouldnt have an issue. However the finish of the branded cables is better and its wound less tight so when clipping direct its easier to achieve a nice finish.
Hopefully that helps?
