  1. Started by mel,

(Apologies to those who have seen this post already. I realised that I had posed it on the wrong board.) Hi, I'm looking to purchase an alarm system. Currently my short list of panels are:- Texecom VERITAS EXCEL ADE Accenta Mini Gen4 Scantronic 9651 I was hedging on towards the 9651 until I read about a 'engineer code guard feature' that doesn't seem to work. Here is the link where I stumbled across this issue. Sorry it's a bit long, but towards the end of the page they say that it is a software problem although not openly admitted by the manufacturer. http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/lofiversion/index.php?t24279-0.html I suppose on…

  2. Started by andytpickering,

Having searched numerous forum posts I'm at a total loss, so I thought I'd try asking... I have a Honeywell Optima Alarm system (8EP396A panel with a 8EP417A LCD Keypad and a single PIR sensor) for my shed. When I entered this morning and entered the code the alarm sounded but every time I entered the correct code the alarm would briefly stop and then sound again. the only way I found to stop it is power it down and remove the battery. I only have about a second to see the fault, which is coming up as a PA fault. but the PA connection on the panel has a link cable closing the system (I assume this means it's not in use?) I've tried doing a reset of the syste…

  3. Started by surinder,

Hi, i need help deciding between a PowerMax + (Visonic) or the Scantronic 9751-EN-00 55K for a 5 bedroom house. I need a 5 PIR, 8-10 shock sensors and 1 door contact with a wired outside bell, with a dial out facility. I also want to be able to hardwire the system to the garage later on. If not is there a better system that you could recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated Many thanks, Surinder J

  4. I have a Securit 800L+ alarm panel. Fitted by the housebuilder. I need to remove the alarm panel for building work. It would appear the siren is a Self Contained Bell or a Self Activating Bell. When I disconnect the mains and the internal 12v lead acid battery the siren goes off. Would keeping the siren -Ve and +Ve at 9v to 12v keep the siren from sounding.? I have the installation manual for the alarm but I do not have any details of the siren box fitted.

  5. I just received my Visonic Tower PIR, and I'm nut quite sure it is operation correctly. I installed the PIR as per instructions, about 2,3 meters up and with an angle setting of 5. This should give me at least a +/- 10 meter 90 degrees coverage. While in test mode it already showed "blank" areas where detection failed, and fully operational it will erractically detect motion (I keep in minde the 2 minute reset period after initial motion detection). Sometimes it will only detect motion within a few inches, sometimes not at all. I would be grateful for advice in this matter. Regards,

  6. Can you kindly confirm that the Bosch Blue Line Gen2 Passive-infrared Detector, that you sell, would be fully compatible with my 9651PD-41 Grade 2 8 zone Panel that I purchases from you a few years ago?

  7. Started by Secware,

I want to place an order. We would like to change our G2-44+ for a GD 48. First i want to ask, can we move the settings from the G2-44 to GD 48 or do we need to set all settings when install? Can we buy a RS232-wiring and do it from a computer or do we need to purchase a sw to do it? Or is it free from honeywell? If not free, can we program all from the MK7?

How do I change the master default code of 5678? I have managed to changed the engineer default code from 1234, now when I enter the master code the alarm sets off even though I say "NO" to set system option, any idea what wrong I must have done? thanks

  9. Subject says it all really: I've installed a Scantronic 9651EN-43 into an existing "wired" house and extended the system using the Visonic MCT-302/MCR-308R wireless system. I've linked the Visonic zone output into the 9651 zones and also linked the anti-tamper into the main loop as well. The Visonic can send a low battery warning and I need some suggestions as to how the 9651 can handle this? Obviously, it needs to bring the warning to the home owner's attention, but it can't prevent setting the system or set off a full-blown alarm if it occurs whilst the system is set. Many thanks for your assistance!

  11. Maybe unwisely, I have bought a used SD1+ Speech Dialler to replace a twelve year old model that failed to respond to all the helpful advice you gave me back in February. I have carried out a factory restart, as described in the manual, and have created a 'NEWCODE'. However, when I try to program telephone numbers from 'READY' and press'ENT', the LCD still shows 'READY'! Again from 'READY', if I press 'O' 'CLEARBY' is indicated. But pressing 'B', 'CLEARBY' still remains on the LCD! Please can you help me!

  12. Hi - I am planning a wireless domestic alarm installation for my home: 2 x PIR detector 1 x Dual tech (PIR & MW) detector* 2 x door contact sensors 1 x shock sensor* 1 x contact & shock sensor* 1 x control panel 1 x remote keypad 3 x RF key fob controls 1 x voice dialler (perhaps SMS support too) 1 x external sounder (can be wired) 1 x external sounder decoy I have read good reviews of Texecom equipment for reliability, price and ease of installation and was hoping to build the system using their products, by siting a RadioPlus Intelligent Receiver centrally and running a wire to a Premier control panel in a cupboard downstairs. However, I don'…

  16. Started by Secware,

Do the Honeywell sensors, external siren and tag reader with built-in siren communicate over encrypted rolling code? Do these - FG8M, DFS8M, CO8M, IR8M, IRPI8M, DO8M, SEF8M and SPR-S8EZ, etc. I know the fobs and panic buttons do. These do - TCC800M, TCPA1B, etc. I am using the Honeywell Evohome Security at the moment, that uses the Le Sucre+ box. Is the Le Sucre+ box and the SPR-S8EZ grade 2 EN50131, if they are not grade 2 EN50131 is the dominion a better control panel to use instead? I know the sensors, external siren, fobs and panic buttons are grade 2 EN50131.

  17. So I am sorry in advance for the many questions, but I would rather ask that mess something up. I have decided to install my own wired alarm at home which is working out cheaper than the wireless options in the shops, I have opted for a Texecom Veritas Excel with LCD keypad, Texecom PIR's, Contacts, ext bell and also a Pyronix twin speaker/internal siren. First question - Should my brand new alarm panel smell (like electrical burny smell) ? Are they tested before being sent out. NO evidence of ever being fitted and no signs of board damage or heat exchange to components. It is brand new .... not refurbed or used. Secondly, I am putting the main control panel …

Hi, The strobe light in my Reson8 Bell Box will not stop flashing after fitting my new Mini Gen4 control panel. I've tried everything & double, triple & quadruple checked the wiring, spent hours trying to fathom it out, but it still flashes. I've had to disconnect the -strobe wire to stop the flashing. My conclusion is that there must be a fault with my new Mini Gen4 panel. Have you any thoughts please? Thanks David

  20. I have an existing system with a Scantronic 500+ control panel but have no instruction manual. I know the access code but I don't know the engineers code or anything else about it. I have replaced all the batteries in the system but have triggered the Tamper alarm and I don't know how to reset this. If I replace the existing control panel with a new 500+ then: 1. Can I programme this with my own engineer code and entry code ? 2. Can I use my existing PIR's (Type 520r) and keypad (Type524r) ? 3. Does the instruction manual contain all the information I need to do the above ? 4. Is there a simpler solution to my problem ? Thanks in anticipation of some good advi…

Hi! I can't figure out if the wireless siren MCS 720 are compatible with Visonic PowerMax+ or not? Does MCS720 work with PowerMax+?

  22. Started by stuart1875,

Hello I'm looking to see if anyone can help I've recently bought a eurosec cpx control panel and I was wondering if I need to wire an additional power supply so I can connect the 7 pir's and 4 shocktec door contacts, Or is it possible to power them via the aux 12v. The pir's nominal current is 16mA and the door cont's 7.5mA, according to my calculations this will over-load the system. If so can anyone recommend a suitable add. power supply so I can split the load.

  23. Please can somebody tell me if the Honeywell SEF8M will work with a Flex 20 panel and RF Portal (A073-00-01) Thank you
