When designing an intruder alarm systems some basic information needs to be gathered. Apart from the specialist regulations (BS 4737 has been withdrawn) of BS EN 50131, PD6662, DD243 etc, BS 7671 and Part P is still relevant for cable sizing, methods of fixing recording voltages etc. But lets start with some basics 1, Domestic Installations Probably one of the most common systems. This would usually be a Grade 1 or 2x (both audible only). A risk assessment must be carried out and this will decide grade. I am ready to order CPX control panel and dual tech detectors but not sure which backup battery I need to order which will fit into this panel? can someone please give me a make/model or a link to the battery which I can order? do I need a 4 core cable or a 6 core cable? has anyone got installation manual for CPX? thanks

Hi We have a customer who has a GD06 gsm dialler. He now wants another one but it seems they are now obsolete. Will the GD04 do the same job.? He only uses a single input to trigger an sms alarm message. Is the programming the same. Thanks in advance for your reply Regards Mark

I am currently using standard 2 wire (common tamper) and have linked the unused zones which seems to be working but the engineer manaul says 9(eol) wiring is more secure, I am thinking of changing it to use eol wiring(I am using eurosec PIR without fault or mask terminal), if I do this then it would leave me 2 unused zones plus unused tamper(which becomes 9th zone), do I need to link them as before or do I need to link them using some 4k7 resistors as the other zones? also in the engineer manual it says you should select 9(eol) in the wiring option(page 23 of manual) and then normal (standard gardtec wiring configuration without mask or fault detection) but then it says i…

Hi. I have random high resistances in most zones of a Honeywell Galaxy Dimension. I would like to replace my panel with a new one, but I've been told these panels are incompatible with detectors that have solid state relays (and I have several of these). Can anyone confirm this information? Thanks.

My house alarm (veritas r8) keeps going off while unset. i walk around my house then go in to zone 2 (kitchen)where i have a PIR, the alarm goes off while unset, the keypad lights up indicating zone2 how do i stop this? thanx Daniel

We have had an electrician wire up the alarm and the alarm did go off when he tested it. When you set the alarm, however, it does not go off when you walk passed either of the 2 pir's fitted to the system. He has gone home and given up! any ideas??

Well as the title says i have a visonic and im getting a s01 low battery warning and triple beeping that is constantly happening and i really do need to turn it off, any information would be great at this time. Thanks

Hi, I purchased a ADE Honeywell Accenta Mini Gen4 with LCD Keypad on 01/05/2010, This has a problem where it says "Tamper Fault Lockout" on the keypad, I have tested all the tamper circuits and they are very low resistance. I suspect the main board or remote keypad is faulty although the fault only occured when I removed the panic button for decorating. I cannot get it to reset.

(9827) In brief, there is a code showing as bF which I understand through d/loading the User manual means: battery fault on the control panel. The alarm has been going off several times a day for nearly a week and I disconnected the ringer several days ago but am too worried to open up the control panel in case it then goes off again and I can't press the code to stop the noise once the faccia is removed. Hi, i set my passage as an entry/exit zone type with the connector on the front door, when i set the alarm i get the exit tone then the system sets, but on retrurning to the property instead of sounding the entry tone allowing me time to put in my code - it triggers the alarm setting off the siren, how can i solve this? thank you daniel

Hi, I have a Castle care-tech euro mini and need to add another PIR to a FSL zone which already has a PIR. i.e. I need to wire two PIR's in series. Unfortunately the manual does not give any details how to do this and I have not found any helpful information on the net either. I'm interested in: 1 pcs Honeywell Galaxy Flex with GSM/GPRS 7 pcs Pet immune PIR detectors 2 pcs Microtech Galaxy MK8 Keyprox LCD Keypad 1 pcs Indoor siren 1 pcs outdoor siren I'm not sure which model of Honeywell galaxy flex I need (20 or 50?) 1. HI again Following on from another question i would also like to know how to wire more than 1 sensor on a circuit. Whenever in the past i have done this, when testing the system it has failed to activate. I assume this can be done as some systems have more than 8 detectors. Chris

Hello, I am planning on getting a new intruder alamr panel. My accenta g4 is not as reliable as you may think. With the dan thing making a buzzing noise thru the speakers, display going funny, LEDs flickering and as many other faults you could think of! I am planning on buying a scantronic 9448 control panel (the control box with 1 RKP). I have 5 current intruder ones (1 panic), 1 fire and one spare. Is it possible to have a fire alarm zone on this unit? And once I fit it, will I need an engineer code? Im presuming it starts with 7 and ends in 0. Trying to find a good quality PIR sensor for lighting control. Just to turn on about 200W of lighting for, say, 15 minutes when persons detected during darkness. One sensor, one output. Min range 30m. (It's for use in a churchyard.) Ideally a stand-alone unit, but could be a PIR head plus power supply / relay unit. Hi there, I have just moved to a new house with an old Sterling 10 alarm system with 2 PIRs, it works but the keypad is very worn and I have no idea how to program it. I was thinking of getting the Euro mini keypad to replace just the keypad, see attached image with wiring. Will this work?

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Scantronic 9651EN-41 (9651 c/w 9941) panel from you. Having now installed it I'm surprised that the transformer in the panel has a noticeable hum/buzz. The problem is that the panel is located in the living room rather than out of the way in the attic or similar. It is where it is because I wanted to do a straightforward replacement for a Menvier stand-alone(ie no RKP) panel that had gone on the blink, with minimum re-wiring. Is this hum/buz normal? The Menvier was totally silent.
