Intruder Alarms

Hi all, Following a burglary at a neighbours house, I'm looking at "self-install" burglar alarms; I've had a couple of quotes from professional installers, and I just can't justify spending the amount they are asking for - especially when prices on here seem so reasonable. Basically, I want a fairly simple wireless system: * main box on the wall under the stairs (where there is power), * 4 wireless door sensors around the house (one on the front door to be entry/exit, and one on the sliding back door to be omitted on a part-set), * one wireless PIR for the lounge (where the dogs never go), * a keypad to arm/disarm by the front door (hardwired to the ma…

I'm just powering up a Texecom Veritas Excel system with an LCD keypad. The keypad is receiving power as it is illuminated, the power LED is lit and the keypad is accepting key presses. However, the LCD display remains blank and displays no characters. Am I missing a configuration setting somewhere or is the keypad/panel faulty? Thanks!

please i am wanting to buy the scantronic 55 system however i have some questions - does this have a phone out feature via sim card or by bt line if it is triggered. does this accept pir / door contacts that have been used for an optima honeywell hard wired system since it is an 'hybrid' system... so that i might replace the optima and buy the wireless pir as and when i can. essentially i need a wireless system for a domestic use where i would have around 5 pir and couple of door contacts and smoke alarm external bell and key fob - is there anything other than the homelink 55 that is also suitable and fairly straightforward to use - set up and around

Hi, I am experiencing odd behaviour with a Visonic Powermaster 10. Due to a planned extended power cut, the panel was unplugged for 24 hours, during which time the battery went flat. The panel was reconnected to the mains when the power returned and it eventually booted back up. Since then it has suffered 3 false alarms from separate PIRs. Should I do a factory reset to try to resolve the issues? If so, is the only option a hardware reset? When I open the back of the panel I can see three pins marked DEF and 3 marked RST. Which pins should I jumper please? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Mark.

Hi, I've never actually used one of these systems before but I've got a work colleague that's recently purchased one from yourself s. three quick questions 1. Is there a cheaper alternative third party keyfob that is compatible with this system that will talk with it, I'm guessing it's probably the same as a Honeywell galaxy g2-20, or visonic powermax where you have to use the manufacture branded keyfobs? 2. If they purchased the WIFI module I understand there's apps available to monitor and control the system remotely but could they also use the apps available for there phone so it works in the same way the keyfobs do?, would this include a simple set/unset …

My elderly parents have a basic alarm system which has worked perfectly for over 20 years. The control unit has now gone faulty and requires replacement. Could you recommend a replacement unit which only has to cover two PIR zones and one entry/exit. The existing unit is key control under the stairs which is no longer ideal and I would prefer to fit a remote keypad just inside the entrance door. The external box should also be replaced so if you feel a complete kit would be a better deal then if you could recommend one it would be great. I should say that they are now looking to move to a retirement home so the system will probably only have to last them for about a year …

Well, the Honeywell ADE Informa speech dialler I bought is to replace the current AD2000 speech dialler that is not working any longer. The speech dialler is to be connected to an Ademco 4204 relais module (with 4 relais) which in turn is getting its pulses from a Honeywell Vista 50P alarm system. So, basically, when there is an alarm in one of the 3 partitions I have in the alarm system (the Vista 50P), this triggers one of the relais in the Ademco 4204 which in turn triggers the speech dialler which then calls the phone of the home owner.
