I think before - the best way to protect a window was to have a foil running around the glass.. Now I see a lot of electronic gadgets. However I am not sure how reliable they are. Say vibration sensor. I guess it is easy to cut glass above/below such a sensor with diamond cutter and simply disconnect it with a knife or undo latches and open window slowly or get through not disturbing the sensor using the hole... I mean - if the intruder is an idiot and will smash the window with a brick it works but otherwise - unlikely... am I right? is there other means to protect glass area? If the window is obscure and design and beauty considerations arent important - is …

hi i had a scantronic 9448+ style installed a number of years ago which has worked perfectly, but since the main fuse was knocked, the mains light on the panel does not illuminate and the panel does not power up. However, there is now a couple of lights on behind the keypad, which had all gone off after the main fuse was knocked out. Also, after the main fuse was knocked out there was a few weak noises from the panel...these have since stopped. Even trying to key in our code, there is no audible sound or any changes to the state of lifelessness. Can you advise us on how to remedy this problem, or suggest a 'like for like' replacement? Yours smash0007

Hi , I'm after a bit of help , I'm looking at installing an external sounder to a powermax complete panel in out house , the eves at the top of the house so don't want to be going up ladder to often to change batteries etc . I've looked on your web page and it directs me to an expander module to allow the connection up to the siren, however looking in the panel I can see some connection for 12v , internal and external sounder already on the main panel next to the connection for the telephone line , therefore can I just use those to feed the external siren, thanks for your help with this .

I want to use 12volt bells as my warning devices but I've been told that they will burn out the microprocessors on modern control panels. Is this just a way for the trade installer to put me off doing it myself or is there any truth in what he's saying.

, I have an older alarm panel that does not need EOL resistors. Is there a way to use this device without the EOL resistors selected as a normally closed circuit like traditional alarm circuits? Before I had the texecom AED 0001 which is fine but this new replacement talks about EOL resistors built in in the literature. I just want to know if it is compatible with the texecom veritas panel which doesn't use EOL

Hi, So it's 1:49am, my husband is at work and I can't get hold of him. my 9800 alarm is saying battery fault and keeps going off every few minutes. My daughter is stood by the pin pad in tears whilst i desperately try to find a solution - is there anyone who can help? I feel sick and I'm shaking! I don't know if it's going off outside. The company who installed it have gone out of business and I don't know who to ring and there's no user manual anywhere, I can't find much online either. I'm in north Kent, any help would be so gratefully received. Thank you

Installed above alarm several weeks ago, the one only problem I have not been able to resolve is that there is no option to part set the system using program 2. Program 1 is the main program so I've set up program 2 so the landing pir is not used and intended to use this program at night. The instructions say enter CODE press P and select program number in this case 2 but I press number 2 but nothing happens and it stays set on program 1. I also have an LCD keypad upstairs for use at night. One thing the instructions say is that "the installer has to program the system for part operation", I presume this mean program 2 has to be set up which I've done or am I missing s…

Hello At present I have a hired alarm system (in Sweden) from Honeywell, the main central is a CMI8NE-SDI4G (with mobile as well as wired telephone connection) I will not renew the rental agreement when it ends soon, hence the CMI8NE-SDI4G will be returned to the company. All other Items such as one keypad (CSK8NE-SDI-, two smoke detectors (DTO600HF-, one PIR (IRX800HFCT- and one magnetic switch (DOD800HF- will stay as my property. I will like to buy a new main central and have found a CMI8UK-STD, will this be compatible with the items mentioned above, and can it all be programmed by using a TCU2-800 mobile keypad? Flemming

We have a scantronic 9448 alarm system and have recently had a new front door fitted. The original door was solid wood and had a door sensor fitted into the top of the door. Our new door is upvc and we require a flush fitting sensor which can be connected to the existing wiring. Please advise on which item we should select.

Hi All, I have just moved into a new (8 year old) house that has a 9651 alarm. I wanted to change some upstairs lights only to find when I turned the lighting circuit off the alarm started sounding. On further inspection, the alarm system shares the same power circuit as the upstairs lighting. I then tried disconnecting the batteries in the alarm control box and that just sent the alarm crazy again. Is there anyway this system can be put into a "engineer mode" ie can I turn the power off without the alarm sounding?. I have tried the alarm installation company but they can't help over the phone (suppose for security reasons) but are wanting silly money to come out? …

I am looking for a home alarm system for both security and fire / carbon monoxide There are three bedrooms on the top floor, downstairs there is a hallway leading to the front door, a combined lounge / dining room 25m2 with windows at either end, kitchen with door to outside and a bathroom with a large window. The lounge will need to have a carbon monoxide detector fitted as it will contain a log burner. I would like to be able to mount the control unit away from the key pad and may in the future wish to add another keypad to go in the kitchen. I am very happy to have a wired system and install it myself as the whole house is being renovated at the moment but would w…

Hi, I wish to upgrade an old wired intruder system in a 4 bed detached house. I am looking for a simple to operate basic system so that next door neighbours can monitor it when I am away and gain access easily. I have chosen the components below which look suitable but am not sure about the pir sensors (no pets to worry about) or the sounders (would the basic sounder be adequate in a residential situation or should I go for the louder twin piezo unit?. There are other existing door switches that I shall re-use. Honeywell Logic 6 + additional fobs Yuasa NP2.1-12 battery Honeywel IS215T (or TCE?) (or Quest?) sensors Honeywell AG6 (or AG8?) sounder Can you please …
