[Ticket Question] Telephone control of alarm
ravis94 replied to Secware_Tech6's topic in Intruder Alarms
Hello... This may have no relevance to the post but SMS has had some issues with being sent over the PTSN network... SMS over PSTN We have received reports that some of the SMS service numbers provided by the major mobile telephone companies are becoming unreliable in operation. A number of Cooper Security products have the ability to send SMS messages using a standard telephone land line (PSTN). Where this functionality is being used the Cooper Security equipment will send the SMS however the service provider will not complete the transmission. This problem is not unique to Cooper Security products and will affect any equipment that uses a SMS over PSTN service. The Cooper Security products specifically affected by this third party problem are: i-SD02 plug on digicom / speech dialler for i-on40 i-DIG02 plug on digicom for i-on40 SD2 Speech dialler Cooper Security -
[Ticket Question] Solenoid Bell connected to intruder panel
ravis94 replied to Secware_Tech6's topic in Intruder Alarms
I also agree. Most if not all intruder alarm panels have the facility of an internal speaker (16ohm) that can produce an electronic siren sound along with entry/exit tones etc.. If you require a 'bell' sound there are some electronic sounders that can have a specific 'bell' tone... These are more commonly used for fire alarm applications and the bell sound is used for classchange in a school (my high school uses this feature) or a panic alarm in a bank The range of external sounders for intruder alarms are much more reliable compared to a bell and have a much much louder sound output and the facility of an integral strobe. -
as far as I am aware it is the same manual. You need the engineers code though... This could have been changed which means a defaulting process to restore the default eng code. Not hard at all to re-programme it though.

hmmm... Can you tell me where the cable that goes to zone 6 is located? Does it go near doorways or underneath carpets? Is the PIR secure on the wall? You could try removing the PIR cover (a tamper alarm will be generated) and cleaning it out with a soft cloth as there may be dust on the sensing element. Check that the cables in the panel and the PIR are fully secure. Do you exit the house when the alarm is armed? Are you near the cables at all when you arm the system??

[Ticket Question] Rafiki twin flex 8 zone panel
ravis94 replied to Secware's topic in Fire Alarms & Emergency Lighting
also check the earth cable that comes from the mains. There should also be a green/yellow earth cable that connects to a terminal on the PCB and if it isnt connected, it can show an earth fault. In regards to the zones not working, are you getting any zone faults? If so does the LED flash faster than the buzzer or at the same rate as it? Are you sure you switched the zones ON in the engineers menu??? -
can you give us details on the battery you used please? You did connect the correct polarity-sensitive battery leads to the right ends didnt you? Check this, check the end of the battery lead that connects to the terminal block on the PCB and see if any copper wire strands are touching anything else. If not you may well have a faulty unit...
-
have you checked that the cable connections are the same in the keypad and end station? Have you checked the fuses in the end station and have you checked the cable isnt damaged? Does the keypad illuminate when the system is armed and does the keypad make a siren noise on power up or is it just the internal sounder? Usually it is just cables being wired incorrectly that causes problems. Let us know how you get on

Texecom Odyssey 3E- Just ordered one, Any good?
ravis94 replied to ravis94's topic in Intruder Alarms
Once again brilliant service from securitywarehouse!!! Absolutely brilliant and will definitely come back soon! Bellbox is happily working on my accenta G4 and was very easy to set up. Postage was very very quick too!!! Thankyou!!! -
Hi I have just ordered a texecom odyssey 3E bellbox. I was going to buy a 4E but the neighbours strobe is totally invisible in daytime so you cant identify where the irritating wailing originates from unless you live next-door!!! How bright are the strobes on these units? Can I have it so it is powered ONLY from the panel (accenta G4) and not the internal battery? Is any fixing equipment included such as wall plugs etc..? oh and is the strobe LED or xenon??? Has anybody got datasheets for this unit that I could read up on?? Can't seem to find any!
-
yeah thats fine... I'll just keep it on my intruder panel. I will just get an extra voice sounder for my fire alarm... So how exactly does the engineer hold-off mode work? Does the Accenta G4 have this functionality. And has anyone got any datasheet for the Odyssey 4/4E???
-
so once the alarm activates is the strobe a xenon bulb or high efficiency LEDs? If it is LEDs it will be easy for me to change the bulbs and add more low current LEDs Would it be possible to connect the unit to my vigilon compact fire alarm panel as well as my accenta G4? The fire panel uses the Master Alarm sounder circuit which is 24V... Would it interfere with the intruder panel and vice versa. I dont want to damage my fire alarm panel as it is Gent and as you may know the panel alone costs £1000+ Is it not recommended?
-
so can it be confirmed that the strobe is around the edges so the wall would light up when it flashed? What is this about moveable LEDs too? are these the "comfort lights" or the actual strobe lights. My other neighbours bellbox looks identical and when it goes off there are about 6 different lights flashing crazily inside it, is that the odyssel 4 or a different one? I do like the look of it as the standard white boxes with blue caps at the bottom are too common. Id like mine to be more stylish. Has securitywarehouse got any manuals on the odyssey 4/4E? that would be much appreciated. So how would I go about having the bellbox "power down" when I turned off my alarm system panel? Remember this is not for the full house! I used the G4 for a presentation and now have it installed in my room. My room isnt linked to the house alarm and I am just above an extension so an alarm is mandatory in my room! Just need a bell now...

Hello SecurityWarehouse I still havent got a bellbox for my system yet (Accenta G4)... I was thinking of getting one that is hardly visible and I wanted quality so I thought of Texecom! I have been looking at their Odyssey's and I think the 4E does just that. On your website, you have the Odyssey 4 and the Odyssey 4E live backplates in either clear or blue. If I was to get a "clear" 4E live backplate will the strobe lens be clear along the outside or blue? Basically the strobe is around the edge of the unit and I would like to know if that wrap around strobe reflector blue or clear? Its just i've seen pictures and some are blue but they have clear backplates? If I wanted the blue reflector should I just get the "blue" backplate? Now the only difference I have seen is that the 4E doesnt have screw tamper whereas the 4 has all 3 tampers. Also ive seen the price cheaper elsewhere, the full unit is cheaper at ADKsecurity. http://www.adksecurityltd.com/texecom-odyssey-4e-46-p.asp Thankyou

I feel your pain!!!! its happened to us at like 2AM!!! every 3 minutes WWWUUEEAAAUUUUWUUUEEEAAAUUUU!!!!!!!!! It is probably the internal panel battery as if it was the bellbox there would be no report on the actual alarm panel, i think just the bellbox sounds... The reason the panel sets the alarm off is because it is either completely drained or overheating so scantronic told us the following morning. It usually warns you with the code Lb (low battery)
-
Elecbob All you do is just press reset first so the backlight illuminates...
-
lol elaine, are you bored posting questions and replying to them yourself?! hahaha I thought that fire detectors didnt come with bases? is that fire alarm detectors?
-
I have two of these. Trust me they are LOUD if connected to an ADE Accenta panel. They should be but depending on the control panels default alarm sound it is earsplitting. They do a good job though. Just like the Elmdene ones.
-
well there is the two LED lights on the facia of the keypad? The idea of it is that it is supposed to be hidden from an intruder so he/she cannot try tamper with the system further. I prefer it.
-
A good autodialler is the Menvier SD1 or the ADE informa. If you get the ADE optima you will not have the option to wire on an autodialler as it is not supported by the PCB whereas the G4 system is.

hello there, If you already have a scantronic system I would recommend a Scantronic 9651 system http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=809 This system is a little more higher end and is a little bit more advanced... If you just want something that is fairly easy to install then I would recommend the ADE Accenta G4 with the LCD RKP (I have this one), it was so easy to get set up providing you have all the wiring correct. http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_41&products_id=864 In terms of PIR, I like the ESP quest but I also like the IS215. Have a look at both, see which one you think would look better in your living room or other area of protection. A good bellbox is the Texecom 4E, they do a dummy of this too. Ive seen them in action, they look stylish and are very loud!! If its too expensive then get the AG6. If you want two keypads (one upstairs one downstairs) then you can get an LED or an LCD remote keypad seperate to the ADE Accenta G4 control panel as it only comes with 1. Same with the scantronic 9651 Im not sure if the optima can allow you to expand with remote keypads? can someone clarify?? Let us know your decision Ravi94

Elaine, maybe its a suggestion on the website to say something like "only confirmed paypal addresses will be accepted otherwise orders will be stalled/cancelled", this will save everybody's time. Or on the payments page where you choose paypal have something come up on the side saying the above if you get me? just an idea...?
-
The R8+ allows the use of LCD keypads. Is the difference that the R8+just comes with a standard LED keypad and the excel comes with an LCD keypad?
-
I do agree, the ADE Accenta G4 is a brilliant low cost but robust unit too. I am 15 and I have one of the G4's with the LCD keypad for my home project and if it works fine. Really easy to programme, just need to remember the system flags as they caused confusion with me lol! You'll be fine. Just make sure you read the manuals properly first. It has out of the box default codes so you dont have problems with programming. I do reccommend this panel! Ravis94
