I have a Scantronic 9210 Intruder system with a flush fitting keypad in the lounge. I know this panel is obsolete but does anyone know of a panel that offers a flush fitting panel as an option if it dies. The wife's not to keen on a 6" x 9" hole left in the lounge wall $ I.m not keen to redecorate the lounge!!

My elderly parents have a basic alarm system which has worked perfectly for over 20 years. The control unit has now gone faulty and requires replacement. Could you recommend a replacement unit which only has to cover two PIR zones and one entry/exit. The existing unit is key control under the stairs which is no longer ideal and I would prefer to fit a remote keypad just inside the entrance door. The external box should also be replaced so if you feel a complete kit would be a better deal then if you could recommend one it would be great. I should say that they are now looking to move to a retirement home so the system will probably only have to last them for about a year …

Thank you for the supply of the new remote keypad for my Visonic PowerMaster 10 I have registered the keypad without any problem. I started to register the prox tags but made a mistake, so deleted them. When I check the system, it clearly states 'none registered' When I try to re-add a tag, I now get the message "no free location". I removed the batteries from the keypad then I 'disconnected' the keypad from the main unit then re-registered the keypad with the main unit, hoping this would 'clear' any issues, but I still get the same message when trying to register a prox tag: "no free location" If I can't register any tags, the remote pad isn't a lot of use to me. P…

Hello, I have some question about the alarm system. We have two cats. Now I'm looking for the right alarm system for our house. I have 26 wired motion sensors and still need 4 wireless door and 7 wireless motion sensors. Which alarm is the better and the more modern, the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension GD-48 or the Galaxy Flex 50. Second question, I have the wired motion sensor “Active8 PIR with Pet Immunity”,( I bought them last year in England), are they compatible with Galaxy Dimension or Galaxy Flex. Or do I need other new wired motion sensors. The last question, what is the meaning of "Links" in the alarm system. Because the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension GD-48 have 64-Link…

Hi there, i bought one of these pirs in my last order. I fit it and was sure it was working but i tested it the other day and it doesnt seem to be working correctly. It does not trigger the alarm, seems that it is permanently closed. Is there something i need to do, ie change the factory settings on the sensor or does it need returning? Regards

I have an old, very old alarm system! It uses a 4 wire CCL configuration which operated relays in a hard wired system. I would like to upgrade so that I can update/upgrade with a few more detectors. The Homelink 55 system appears to fit the bill as I reckon I could use it with my existing hard wire detectors and allow me to expand into new areas without doing more hardwiring ( add a few PIR's). As I get my neighbours to check out the house and feed the pets while I am on holiday I like to keep entry/exit operation of the alarm system simple. The question . . . can you utilise keyfobs into the Homelink 55 system giving the custodian a car remote type ac…

Hi Could you tell me what passive would replace this one as it has 3 extra connections to the normal 6. These are marked C+ , E- , and FTA. There is a wire looped from the power minus connection to the FTA connection and a brown wire in the cable connected to the C+ connection. What is the purpose of these extra connections ? The reason for replacement is that this passive leaves the led indicator on permanently which doesn't seem correct. I have always used risco quads in my own setup and they seem very reliable. Would one of these fit the bill ? The panel is a Scantronic 9800. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a replacement. Thanks in a…

Hi, I am looking for some help and advice with selecting an alarm system for the house I am currently renovating. It is a four bedroom house with an external garage which I would also like protecting. I would prefer a wired system as from my experiences at work, I am not fully convinced of the reliability of wireless technology! I am nearing the first-fix stage so now is the time to start planning the alarm system. I am an industrial electrician and plan to install it myself but I have no prior experience of alarm systems or installation. Here are my thoughts so far: 1.) A colleague recommended Bosch Blue Line BLD-P sensors, what do you guys think? Would one of these…

We are looking at buying the domonial system, the house is simple enough, requiring a Honeywell domonial wireless 2 PIR kit, an additional PIR, 3 more tags & a wireless siren. We also have two outbuildings that require protecting, the first is approximately 7m from the house (12m from the panel) it will need an internal alarm and 2 PIRs - one at 12m the other at 19m from the main panel, the signal would also have to travel through at least two solid walls, will it do this? There is also a barn some 45m from the panel, this is a bit more complex it will require 1 PIR and a door contact, we need to access it without always turning off the rest of the system and visa ve…

I just received my Visonic Tower PIR, and I'm nut quite sure it is operation correctly. I installed the PIR as per instructions, about 2,3 meters up and with an angle setting of 5. This should give me at least a +/- 10 meter 90 degrees coverage. While in test mode it already showed "blank" areas where detection failed, and fully operational it will erractically detect motion (I keep in minde the 2 minute reset period after initial motion detection). Sometimes it will only detect motion within a few inches, sometimes not at all. I would be grateful for advice in this matter. Regards,

My internal sounder registered fine with the domonial control panel, and on viewing through engineering mode always registers a high signal (7/10) However, whenever I set (full or part) the alarm, typically every other time I get the 'INT SOUNDER RADIO LINK' error. I've configured the system to ignore these errors and set regardless without requiring confirmation - but my worry is there is a fault which might mean the sounder does not go off in case of intrusion. Last week I tried changing the batteries (on the off-chance the batteries supplied were low given the packaging was open), but this did not solve the problem. The positioning of the sounder is very cl…
