  2. Have just received a number of GJD Mini opal PIR's and in each box is a bag containing 4 plastic items. No where in the instructions does it refer to these parts as far as I can see. They do seem to fit in the hole in the back of the sensor where the tamper switch is. There are 3 similar part each with a different length. They may be to waterproof the device but it's not obvious. The fourth piece I've no idea where it's meant to go.

  3. Started by Secware2,

We have a large house protected by 3 PIR floodlights. To this 240v system we want to a number of alarms or sounders, that would be activated when the lights are triggered. As well as being 240v the devices we are looking for must have adjustable volume. Might you be able to help us, please

  4. Hi there, I am looking for a solution if possible for when my customers intruder alarm activates for it to be able to switch on external floodlights? Is this possible with your single control zone unit ie 1803 range or similar. It will be attached to a Texecom Veritas Excel Intruder panel , possibly connected to the bell -ve trigger.

  5. I'd be most grateful for your assistance. I have a GJD security light system which was installed by the previous owners of our house approximately 8 years ago. It is installed in two separate circuits for the front and rear of the house. The front system is still working properly but the rear system with three flood lights started to work in the day time as well as the evening but now has a random fault so more than often it doesn't react at all in the day or evening to intruder testing and only occasionally works properly. The lights all work when I over-ride the sensors to switch them on. I am assuming, rightly or wrongly, that one or more of the three sensors i…

  6. Beam to activate security lighting 10-12m max and what else would be required

  7. I recently purchased from you a Solitaire 4 zone controller with relevant PIR's etc. My customer then wanted a buzzer for each zone to sounder should anyone approach the property, I wired this in to complete the job. Now he has requested a similar install for a friend of his. Having looked at the property, they simply have a front & rear to protect. Currently there is a standalone 500w pir flood to front & rear and all the customer wants is an external audible warning when someone approachs to try to deter possible burglars. Can you suggest a simply system?

  10. Started by Secware,

I wish to set up a perimeter system to my property consisting of 3 sets of takex external 4 beam. I was wondering which transmitters and receivers (GSM) you recommend for such, and also if there are any security lights that could be triggers by breaking the beams,

  11. I would like to know if I can use a GJD sapphire mk3 control box with a Takex PB 30 TK . Both are 12volt is it compatible

  12. i have a 2 zone touch control 12v 120ma power supply unit with the code gjd exp mk4 printed on the board, it is only putting out 4/5 volts do you have these in stock. thanks Carl

  13. GJD Opal RFX system - RFX-3 receiver (GJD018) and three Opal RFX wireless external PIR detectors (GJD017). only attempted installation last few days now that CCTV is installed on the site in question. All the GJD RFX kit powers up OK. The three detectors were each paired with a receiver channel successfully. After pairing, all three indicators (RF1/2/3) on the receiver pulse every 5 seconds. The detectors seem to be operating OK, and when placed in 'walk test' mode the local LED indicator on each detector flashes appropriately. The problem is that even though the detectors seem to be detecting, there is no resultant indication at the receiver, despite the RF link bei…

I currently have a GJD 2 Zone Solitaire one of the zones the light keeps getting stuck on once activated and does not turn off unless manually turned off at the panel. It has been suggested I may need to replace the zone controller, would the dygizone be a straight swap for the solitaire as I cannot find that model anywhere .

  15. I have a 4 Zone Expansion Unit, GJD040 and a DygiZone enunciator and lots of Mini Opal PIRs. From one of your leaflets it shows 4 PIRS connected to each of 2 expansion Units. My GJD unit only seems to have provision for only 3 PIRs (A1,A2,A3). Is this correct or have I missed something? The two expansion units in the leaflet may have been Solitaire units. If 3 is the maximum can I double up? ie 2 PIRs in parallel? I realise the digizone will not be able to discriminate between the two but I guess it may work? If I was to purchase a second GJD040 can the two be connected together? How would the digizone handle Zones 5 and 6? Or would it be more sensible to have two separat…

  16. Started by Secware,

I installed a 4 zone controller, DygiZone (GJD910) and expansion panel (GJD040) with 7 Mini Opal external PIRs (GJD 332). 1. During the installation and initial setting of the PIR’s I had to remove each cover several times. Some of the PIR’s retained their Hex retaining screw with a plastic washer but quite a few them fell out. Inevitably with such a small screw I managed to lose 2 of them. Is it possible to get hold of replacement screws and washers through security warehouse? If not do you have the specification? I could do with at least 6. 2. I have also recorded a voice message for each lighting zone but the quality of the recording isn’t very good. Sounds like a w…

  17. Hi I bought a system from you last month and have now installed it. I bought a GJD digizone controller, 4 way expansion unit and Mini Opal pir's. The system often works well but every now and then a red led flashes inside the pir's and the system dies. It sometimes dies for minutes or hours then seems to reset and come back on. Do you have any idea what causes this?

  18. My problem concerns our home security lighting system. We have two floodlights, two PIR's and an internal control panel. The control panel inside says GJD Sapphire MkIII. After several years of faultless use it has now gone wrong. Sometimes the lights only flash, sometimes they are ok. I think it is either one of the two PIR's giving a faulty signal (with the other still ok hence it sometimes works) or the timer in the control panel. I tried altering the time on this and they seem to stay on longer when they do work, but usually they only flash. Should I change one of the PIR's or what. I really would like to talk to a real person!

  19. I am looking at controlling 2 outdoor PIRs and lighting as 2 seperate zones. I notice that you have the emerald unit and the Voltek unit. I have the following questions: 1. will the units work with any manufacturer of PIR (12v) and lighting? 2. Do you stock the 'GJD base 2' which is required for the emerald unit? I notice you stock 4 zone expansion unit (GJD040). 3. Can you tell me what I would require for the Voltek 2 Zone systemas well as the TZX command centre? 4. do you have a general schematic for a 2 zone simple system? Thanks in advance.

  20. I have a number of lighting sensors on our house and one of them seems to have stopped working (they've been in place since '99). Do I need to replace the whole sensor or just the bit inside?

  21. Hi, I notice on the website that you sell spare Covers for the GJD Opal PIR detectors, and I'm trying to find out if the covers fit all Opal detectors or just recent ones ? I've three detectors that have been in use for around 12 to 15 years, which I'd like to get some spare covers for. I don't see any model numbers on the detectors or their original packaging, other than the words "GJD OPAL" on the PIR PCB.

  22. One of your Opal XL products was installed yesterday as a replacement . The new product switched on automatically in response to movement after dark but the lights remained on and would not then switch off automatically. 1 Is there a control device on the unit for managing the time that the lights are activated or can you suggest another solution please. 2 Do you have an installation schematic for the product ?

  23. Hi I just bought the above unit....do I need another piece of equipment to operate this unit as I was under the impression that this unit had a light incorporated and was an all in one unit....is it just a sensor and do I need to fit another piece of equipment, if so what??

  24. Hoping you can help, I need the reverse of the typical plug-in light sensor mains adaptor, i.e. to switch on the appliance when there is bright sunlight, and switch off when dark. If it has timer in it, then even better. So, I am after a device that works the opposite to these for a 240v appliance: Ideally, the light sensor is on a wire like this: Hope you can help, or possibly advise if an existing "dusk to dawn" version one can be made to work in reverse.

  25. Started by Secware2,
