  1. Started by Secware2,

I have Scantronic 762 dual channel receiver that currently works with two 738r shock sensors. I wish to swap out one of these sensors for a PIR unit but a) do not know if one channel would be enough for a PIR , and which PIR to buy. (I am told that that I need a Scantronic 700r series item.) Can you please advise.

My system requires at least 10 wired inputs and up to 8 wireless. What would you recommend in this case. I also want a system which can phone/message me if there is an alarm and can be remotely operated.

I have a 15 year old Eurosec system that I whish to refurbish/upgrade. A few questions: I have what looks like the CP8L remote pad - is there an better option to replace? Tag compatible? Would you advise replacing the main panel at 15yrs old? I wish to add another remote keypad (garage entrance) and a contact/PIR - best option (remote tag?) Can you recommend replacement PIRs? Is there such a thing as wireless door contact?

  6. I successfully installed my SPC4320 with IR sensor and Elmdene ELM300 internal sounder. This configuration works properly today. I wanted to connect the external Rapier sounder but I have two issues: - Tamper detection: I wired the tamper on sounder as explained in the Rapier manual by choosing the 2.2K resistor on the board and connected it directly to the TR pin on the SPC4320 but the tamper remains faulty even if the sounder is closed and fixed (sensors on the Rapier work well as confirmed by beep from the sounder). - EX+ and EX- signals: In SPC Pro->Panel setting->Controller input and output->Output (please see attached screenshot), I try to commute the ext.…

I am looking to replace an existing system (Elkron) with a new one and would appreciate any recommandation from an expert. I would like to combine wired detection (given available existing cable connection) and wireless detection (for new detection points and keyboards). I need to cable about 24 points (detectors, keyboards, smoke detectors, sirenes) and about 24 wireless points (windows/doors detectors, smoke detectors, IR detectors and keyboards) and would like detetors with some intelligence against false alarms (digital signal analysis?). I am currently looking at Risco as well as Texecom. I have heard Risco may be more difficult to program (only for registered i…

Hi I would be interested in buying Visonic alarm system. However I am not clear on the PowerLink functionality. Do I have to have Visonic IPMP server installed separately to support PowerLink for exactly this: sending emails/MMS messages with pictures from connected cameras UPON alarm trigger.

  11. I'm looking for a wired alarm. I was interested in Veritas R8, but seems this model do not offer a feature i need. I would like the remote keypad to continuously display the state of each zone, with no sound, even when the alarm is turned off (i would like the control panel to behave by default as a silent alarm, and activate sounders when i switch the alarm ON). Do you have any alarm control panel that propose such feature? thx

  12. I am a building contractor with a number of sites in operation. I am interested in the GJD GSM Autodialler or Pyronix V2 GSM. Can these products be used as standalone alarm units. Can PIRs be connected directly to this unit or do I have to integrate this with an alarm control panel?

  13. Started by darrindaly,

Hi, I had a CP8L alarm previously installed in my house. The control panel became faulty so I decided to replace it with a more adaptable CPX control panel. I had read that the RKPs for the CP8L were compatible wth the CPX control panel. However, when I connect up one of the RKPs to the new CPX control panel it simply shows a back light and nothing else. The RKPs were working fine with the CP8L and I have connected both of them directly to the CPX with a short cable (with nothing else connected and with all devices connected), to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Darrn

Is it necessary to solder in-line resistors to all the zone inputs i.e. E/E, PIR and door contacts? With my old Scantronic 9200 I just connected the contacts straight across the inputs on the PCB. The scematic shows a resistor on the e/e input. Thanks

  20. Hi there, If I use the Texecom Premier Impaq Plus With Built in Contact, with a Honeywell G4 alarm panel, can I use 6 core cable, or do I need to use an 8 cables to set the contacts up on zone 1, and the shock sensor up on another zone.

  21. Started by Secware,

We have a Visonic powermaster 10 with problems accessing the gsm network. I am not able to control it or obtain status reports via sms, and when I run the GSM/GPRS diagnostics it reports "Gsm net. fail". I am not aware of any issues with the SIM card or the subscription, but I thought I would try using another SIM. However, the installation manual clearly states no to insert or remove SIM card when the control panel is powered by AC or battery. Hence I need to remove the backup battery, but on page 59 in the user guide it is stated that I should contact my installer to perform the backup battery replacement. Since I installed the system myself, I do not have any insta…

  23. On the verge of ordering the new Powermaster 10 kit from Visonic.Looks exceptional. Two questions if I may: 1) I understand that the line from the telephone master socket must connect to LINE. However is it crucial that the main telephone is connected to SET. I think this set-up allows the alarm to sieze the incoming call. Would it be possible to run the telephone off an extension socket or from the master socket itself. Also there is some info about RJ31X plug which gets over the problem- is this USA only? I also understand that the GPRS/GPS module gets over the problem 2)An IP camera is available in this system. Can this be accessed by the homeuser o…

  25. Hi I am interested in purchasing the Scantronic Homelink 55 system for use at my private residence - this will allow me to upgrade my existing system and utilise the alarm cabling with the added ability to install future wireless devices without the need to install any further cables. My query is this - when installing the alarm can all of the programming functionality be achieved by the use of the keypad included in the pack - or does any specialist device or software need to be purchased? Many thanks John
