Fire Alarms & Emergency Lighting

BS5839 Fire Alarms & Emergency Lighting

  1. I am looking to purchase your Rafiki 2 zone Basic starter kit. This will be installed in a town house with a ground, first and second floor. Could you advise if your 2.3 Ah batteries are suitable for this kit? Could you also recommend suitable cable, compatible additional sensors, heat sensor and CO2 sensors for this installation? Finally would this system be suitable for 3 zones or can only be wired for two zones? Finally is the kit batery operated only or can it be connected to mains?

Hi there I am looking to put a wireless sensor; PIR or better still a dual-tec in my Motorhome, which will communicate with a transceiver wired into my Cytech Comfort system. It looks like the Opal RFX - 3 might do what I want at the receive end BUT is this unit only designed for the external PIR's (like the Elite) Opal make. Also, the RFX-3 is slight over-kill budget wise - it looks like it's three channel, I only need the one. So is there another, good quality product, that might fit my needs? There is max of 10 metres between the sensors position in the Mhome and the potential site for the transceiver and I have both N/C and N/O contacts in the panel (plus tamper w…

  5. Hi, I have installed a Visonic PowerMaster 10 with 2 x external & 1 x internal siren, and also a GSM module for notification/alerts (all purchased from yourselves). I would like to connect a SMD427 PG2 Smoke & Heat detector. Please could you confirm that it is possible to configure this system so that when Smoke or Heat is detected, the device itself emits sound but NOT the external sirens? And that a call/text also be generated via the GSM module? (to clarify, it is not desired that the external sirens will sound upon detection of smoke or heat but internal sounds are fine, also desired that remote alerts are generated - hope that makes sense) Thanks

  7. Hi, I'm interested in buying a complete intruder alarm system based on the Honeywell Flex 20 panel. I want to include a smoke alarm, probably the Honeywell ECO1002 combined photo/thermal unit and connect it to the intruder alarm system. Should I buy a latching or a non-latching base? I'd like to place the order today if possible,

  8. We need a 4 zone fire and intruder alarm which can provide a remote alarm via sms/gsm or Internet as we have no BT phone line within the building.

  9. Hi We have an alarm / fire detection combination system installed and I need to add two smoke detectors and one alarm door contact. I have found the smoke detector. Menvier M12 4 in 1 Smoke Detector for Intruder Alarm Do you know what door contact goes with this?

  10. Started by Secware,

I have purchased a Menvier M12 4 in 1 Smoke detector and now need to try and change the head of it to just a heat and not smoke sensor, as it is located in the kitchen. Please can you let me know if you sell in the same style and size a heat only sensor and if it is possible to simply change the head from the one detailed above to a heat sensor one? If Menvier do not make a heat sensor in this style, do you have one from another supplier which would screw onto my existing Menvier smoke detector body which is already wired in? Thank you

  11. Can I use the 16way 20amp power supply unit for strip LED lighting which we are fitting in our church auditorium?

Hi, I am working on refurbishing a building to become a small commercial gym in Crieff, Perthshire. I want to install a fire detection system, I’d need two break glass manual panels and then a number of automatic detectors with sounders. The ability to have an alert sent to my phone as well would be advantageous. Is this something you can help me to specify and also is it something my electrician can wire in?

  13. Do you have a wireless smoke detector with a remote sounder that I could use as a separate system? I need it for my detached garage which is some way from the house and am worried that I might not hear a standard smoke detector at night.

  14. I need to add a device to shut down the sound system in a pub. does you little interface relay support this ?

  15. Hi Please quote me on a Fire Alarm system to go in a split building where they require 2 separate panels which will talk to each other. Each panel to have 4 zones and 2 sounder outputs. 12 smoke detectors 1 heat detector 8 sounders with strobes 5 break glass units 1 4 zone panel (other one to be purchased at a later date) 5 Door magnets and power supply to work with fire alarm

  16. Started by Secware2,

I recently purchased a Aritech photoelectric smoke detector with c/o relay output DP721R, I was wondering if you could recommend a suitable testing kit for this particular detector.

  17. Started by Secware,

I have been recomended a Redwall LRP404S motion sensor to connect to a light so we can light up our entrance gate when it is opened. They have told me we will need a Redwall interswitch as well. Does this make sense to you and if so do you know which switch suits this light and do you sell them also and for how much.

  18. Emergency Lighting Routine Testing Requirements EN50172:2005 requires that at times of minimum risk the system is routinely tested. The following regime taken directly from the standard shows how often and what should be tested. This is only a brief overview and full consultation with the standard is advised Daily A visual inspection of every maintained emergency luminaire to ensure the lamp is operating correctly and in central or generator based systems that the control panel or indicators are showing normal conditions. Any faults must be entered into the system logbook and a check that any previously reported faults have received attention. Monthly * …

  20. I have been looking on your website for some standalone smoke/heat detectors for use in a boiler house. Could you confirm that the relay output is volt free and can be used to connected to remote PLC digital input card (24VDC). Aritech Photoelectric Smoke Detector with c/o relay output Do you do a range that is more suitable for an industrial installation like a boiler house? It has to be standalone and dual heat and smoke and have the facility to repeat the alarm remotely via a relay output?

  21. I have fitted new detector after false alarms. This detector is fine now but other 3 out of 7 are now giving false alarms but these 3 were ok before i fitted the new one. Should I replace other 3 or does this suggest that the new one is not compatible or there is another fault in the system? System is approx 3 yrs old.

  22. Started by Secware,

I want to fit some wired smoke detectors to a Galaxy Dimension pannel. Considering Texecom Exodus 4W or Menvier M12. Would you recommend one over the other? Can you explain the difference between Texecom OH with and without N/O relay?
