I have an old, very old alarm system! It uses a 4 wire CCL configuration which operated relays in a hard wired system. I would like to upgrade so that I can update/upgrade with a few more detectors. The Homelink 55 system appears to fit the bill as I reckon I could use it with my existing hard wire detectors and allow me to expand into new areas without doing more hardwiring ( add a few PIR's). As I get my neighbours to check out the house and feed the pets while I am on holiday I like to keep entry/exit operation of the alarm system simple. The question . . . can you utilise keyfobs into the Homelink 55 system giving the custodian a car remote type ac…

Hi I'm interested in getting the Visonic Powermax+ Quickfit Kit (inc Wireless sounder). What Keypanel do you recommend? I assume it's recomended that you put the control panel in a closet or something and not close to the door? Also, can the whole kit run on battery only? if so, for how long? BR

Hi & thanks for providing this great resource. The house currently has a Scantronic 9800 which I removed & reinstalled (with new sensors & cabling) during an extension 9 years ago - works fine. I have built a detached garage with playroom above and want to wirelessly link 2 PIR + 2 smoke detectors to the house alarm - don't really want battery powered detectors though. Cooper Security recommended 703R & 762 but didn't really want to talk to me as not a pro installer. I will also be needing another keypad for the system. What do you recommend please. Many thanks, Roger

  5. Hi - I am planning a wireless domestic alarm installation for my home: 2 x PIR detector 1 x Dual tech (PIR & MW) detector* 2 x door contact sensors 1 x shock sensor* 1 x contact & shock sensor* 1 x control panel 1 x remote keypad 3 x RF key fob controls 1 x voice dialler (perhaps SMS support too) 1 x external sounder (can be wired) 1 x external sounder decoy I have read good reviews of Texecom equipment for reliability, price and ease of installation and was hoping to build the system using their products, by siting a RadioPlus Intelligent Receiver centrally and running a wire to a Premier control panel in a cupboard downstairs. However, I don'…

I'm new to this forum and although I tried to read several posts I'm not sure if I came across this topic. I'm thinking of buying the G2-44 for domestic use. On deciding which wired Motion Detectors to choose I'd like your opinion on which brand: Would you advise to stick with Honeywell products (such as the DT 7550A) or would other products such as Rokonet iWise DT15, Pyronix FPKX15DT3, Bosch TriTech, etc will do a better job and fit better with the system? I'm open to suggestions... Thanks!

  12. I require a wired alarm system supporting a minimum of 8 detectors with the following key characteristics: Ability to set/unset using the lock on the final exit door, eg using a Chubb 3G114 Single Pole Shunt Lock or similar If the alarm is activated the ability to disable the strobe (in addition to the sounder) after a predetermined period of time, so there is no external indication of the alarm having been triggered Can anyone please recommend the a control panel / sounder combination which is able to support this configuration Many Thanks KB

my omicron 7000 intruder alarm is giving problems. I think the panel is OK, but the outside bell box doesn't sound.I intend to first replace the bellbox, if this don't resolve the problem then I will replace the control panel. Or do you recommend that I just update and replace both items. I want to reuse the wiring and security devices. can you please recommend a suitable reliable replacement and give me some idea of the cost of the units. many thanks David

Hello, I am planning on getting a new intruder alamr panel. My accenta g4 is not as reliable as you may think. With the dan thing making a buzzing noise thru the speakers, display going funny, LEDs flickering and as many other faults you could think of! I am planning on buying a scantronic 9448 control panel (the control box with 1 RKP). I have 5 current intruder ones (1 panic), 1 fire and one spare. Is it possible to have a fire alarm zone on this unit? And once I fit it, will I need an engineer code? Im presuming it starts with 7 and ends in 0. I wont put the whole code on here to save any problems. I also would like to know if it is programmed with …

Hi, From forums and even neighbors I hear that The Securitywarehouse is in fact the only place to get an alarm system at a reasonable price. Only the quantity of the products creates some confusion with me, therefore I would like some advice. I am looking for an alarm system to install in my house next to my home automation system. As I see on your website I have the choice over various systems. My concern however is that all components are compatible with each other. I am looking for the following: A hybrid central unit (wired and wireless) with battery. 3 wired keypads 5 PIR detectors (both infrared and microwave) with pet immunity. (wired…

Could you please advise (for pet tolerant only). Thanks

  23. hi i bought a dsc power832 alarm off of ebay about 3 years ago and have just got around to fitting it and realised that the installer code i was given is wrong. it's badged as british gas and apparently they had them made with there own defualt engineer codes. anyway i want to use as much of this old alarm as possible before i scrap it and so i was going to buy the ADE Accenta Mini Gen4 with LCD Keypad that you have for sale. my question is will the dsc pir's work with this ok? (i'm assuming yes) and also i see that it requires a 2.1ah 12v battery. my old alarm has a 12v 7.0ah battery so the voltage is the same. but by the looks of pictures they seem to be a diffe…

Hi, Perhaps I could ask your advice as to what alarm system I should install. Firstly I should point out that I am a chartered instrumentation engineer so am used to dealing with complex wired and programmable systems - provided that the appropriate instructions are available to me. I have a three bed property which is in a rural location. The village that I live in has been subject to a recent spate of breakins and alarm systems are springing up all over. My priorities are 1) To discourage a burgalr to even attempting a breakin. 2) Should he attempt a breakin to alarm at the earliest possible opportunity preferably before he has actualy gained access.
