My elderly parents have a basic alarm system which has worked perfectly for over 20 years. The control unit has now gone faulty and requires replacement. Could you recommend a replacement unit which only has to cover two PIR zones and one entry/exit. The existing unit is key control under the stairs which is no longer ideal and I would prefer to fit a remote keypad just inside the entrance door. The external box should also be replaced so if you feel a complete kit would be a better deal then if you could recommend one it would be great. I should say that they are now looking to move to a retirement home so the system will probably only have to last them for about a year …

Hi. I had Scantronic 9800 system installed 20 years ago. It has given good service but the push buttons have become faulty over the years and we are now on the last four buttons that work reliably. Is there a compatible replacement available for the original 9825 remote keypad? If yes is it simply a case of switching off power, disconnect battery and swop over wires on keypad or does it need an 'expert'?

My existing panel was faulty so I puchased a Risco Gartec 490x from you. I liked it beacuse it is hybrid wireless and we are having an extension built, which will make it easy to add additional movement detectors. The control panel and keypad are installed and work fine apart from one problem. I get a warning - off chg volts high / battery/fuse fault - it takes a about 30 minutes after exiting the engineer mode for the fault to register. Its a new battery (again purchased from you) and the fuses are all Ok - any ideas what I have done wrong. Also given that I am not a registered installer will Risco technical help talk to me or am I on my own. regards

We have a Eurosec LCD panel intruder alarm in our house which we dont use, but there are 2 panic alarms in the house (little white box with red button on top and a little keyhole on the front), which are set to green so we assume are active (we havent tested as we have no keys to turn off?!?!). Does anyone know if you can buy replacment keys as my daughter is getting big enough that she is bound to press it soon and we are worried we wont be able to turn it off !! We would like to de-activate these alarms.

I have an old, very old alarm system! It uses a 4 wire CCL configuration which operated relays in a hard wired system. I would like to upgrade so that I can update/upgrade with a few more detectors. The Homelink 55 system appears to fit the bill as I reckon I could use it with my existing hard wire detectors and allow me to expand into new areas without doing more hardwiring ( add a few PIR's). As I get my neighbours to check out the house and feed the pets while I am on holiday I like to keep entry/exit operation of the alarm system simple. The question . . . can you utilise keyfobs into the Homelink 55 system giving the custodian a car remote type ac…

I have an existing system with a Scantronic 500+ control panel but have no instruction manual. I know the access code but I don't know the engineers code or anything else about it. I have replaced all the batteries in the system but have triggered the Tamper alarm and I don't know how to reset this. If I replace the existing control panel with a new 500+ then: 1. Can I programme this with my own engineer code and entry code ? 2. Can I use my existing PIR's (Type 520r) and keypad (Type524r) ? 3. Does the instruction manual contain all the information I need to do the above ? 4. Is there a simpler solution to my problem ? Thanks in anticipation of some good advi…

Hi there, I have just moved to a new house with an old Sterling 10 alarm system with 2 PIRs, it works but the keypad is very worn and I have no idea how to program it. I was thinking of getting the Euro mini keypad to replace just the keypad, see attached image with wiring. Will this work?

Hi I am considering helping a friend upgrade his old system which I believe is a Menvier TS700. Under consideration is a Scantronic 9752 from yourselves which I see comes complete with a keypad and is attractive because it comes with the option for wireless expansion. First question: are there any alternatives you might suggest against this choice and Secondly: Please could you point me to a copy of the installation/programming manual for the 9752 so I can have a preliminary read through. Kind regards and thanks Steve

Hi, I hope that you can help. I currently have a Texecom Veritas R8 wired system that is misbehaving and I am looking to change to a wireless system. I have recently decorated so do not want to start routing new cables and lifting carpets/floorboards. The house is a 3 bed semi, so I don't need the highest spec system. After reading several reports, I'm considering the Scantronic Homelink 55, although I am open to suggestions. The control panel is currently situated in a cupboard under the stairs and I intend locating this in the same place. However, I have a few questions. 1) I want a wireless remote keypad. Can the Homelink 55 operate with one, or do…

Hello, I have a scantronic 500r.+ system installed in 2002 which has been regularly serviced and works as installed. I now have a low battery light for one of the PIRs but the installer & servicer seems to have gone out of business as his phone contact is no longer recognised. Please could you say how to change the battery on the PIR as I do not know whether it has a tamper proof feature or not, hence, if I interfere with the PIR will it set off the alarm? Thanks for your help, Roger

I have a texecom premier which has alarmed but I cannot re set it as it looks like it may need an engineers code. Is there some way of re booting it to put it back to factory default codes. If not, rather than call out the alarm company is it possible to just replace the control panel. Do I need to replace the local lcd keypad as well. If I disconnect the control panel to replace it will the external siren go off? Regards

My alarm installer went missing last year and has left me with an alarm system that doesn't seem to be operating smoothly. He left me an engineers installation manual but the grandmaster code he wrote down doesn't work. So I took the panel off the wall and carried out the steps detailed in the Agility 3 manual page 17. When reconnecting power it makes the panel announce a tamper error and refuses to do anything on the keypad. Putting DIP switch 3 back in to the on position stops the errors but wont let me change PIN codes in the grandmaster menu. So i'm stuck at the moment.... what's the missing steps to complete a reset and change of the enginee…

Just a quick question do you stock the Risco gardtec 490x control panel with RKP which is same style as the 800 and 816 models. If so how much is it?

Hello! I have recently purchased the above alarm panel kit from you as part of an intruder alarm system, which i put together using your website and purchased on the 3rd March 2010. I have received a user manual however I also require the engineers/installation manual. As the payment has cleared am I able to download this manual from your website and if so can you advise me how? I am keen to install the system as soon as possible so if you could get back to me as soon as you can it would be much appreciated. Regards! Cspudfire.[/color]

I have a Risco GT 595 and my installer has just gone out of business. I managed to get the engineer access code from him following his demise but this is of little use without an engineer installation manual or support from Risco. Not being a registered installer neither are available from Risco. Can I get these elusive commodities via Security Warehouse? I notice that many Risco products listed on your site are Sold Out with the exception of user manuals. Is there a reason for this unusual demand? To be specific about my need for information; an outbuilding satellite alarm system linked by radio to the main system seems to register as a tamper fault despite it being in…
