Hello, I am looking to purchase the Honeywell Galaxy 2-20 Wireless Starter Kit together with additional items (internal and external sounder, additional sensors, etc.). I am good with general electrical / electronics work but never installed alarms before. I can't find installation guide on the internet to see how easy will it be to install and configure the system. If you have installed this or similar system, could you please share your experience? Thanks

When fitting a Scantronic 9651 panel recently I noticed it had a rechargeable battery soldered onto the PCB. I guess this is to maintain settings it case of total power failure/disconnection. Does this have a design life of 5 years like most other re-chargeables?? If so it doesn't look like it was designed to be easily replaced. And how would you know it needed replacing anyway - until it's too late? Phil.

Hi, I have a Castle care-tech euro mini and need to add another PIR to a FSL zone which already has a PIR. i.e. I need to wire two PIR's in series. Unfortunately the manual does not give any details how to do this and I have not found any helpful information on the net either. I would be most grateful if someone can point me in the right direction to achieve this. Thanks in advance. Mel.

One of their requirements is to have wireless sensors on windows connected to the Gallagher system. I was told i could use this Wireless Receiver. But do you know which sensor i could use? For example we have Ajax sensors on hand. Do you have any experience with this type of setup? look forward hearing from you.

I have replaced an old Optima panel, (18 years old) with a new Optima Compact. All works fine except the LED in the PIR does not flash like they used to when I walk into a room and the alarm is not set. You can still hear the relay click in the PIR. Only the panel wiring has been touched. Any suggestions what to check as I have already checked the wiring, or does the new Optima panel work slightly different than the old one. Robin

  16. I am interested in the wireless detectors for my home. (outdoor) Blueline PIR Detector We live on a very large property with three large dogs in the garden. 2.What I would like to do is divide the property into 4 security zones which can be armed and disarmed independently. I was thinking of placing about 4 or 5 detectors in each zone. Could you make any suggestions? Do you think that the above detector will be right for me? Next, I would like to hear your opinion about the receivers and/or control panel that I would need? The control panel (alarm system) should be armed and disarmed by using a remote control. My other concern is that we often experience po…

  17. On 30 April 2015 you delivered my order including Scantronic 9651 + 9943 keypad,, 2 off Guardall PQ15 PIR, plus cable and brackets. I hang my head to admit that I am only now finishing the modification to an existing system for which I ordered the parts. Cause of the change was that the original installer had run one cable to 2 back-to-back PIR, and the cable route was forced in beside central heating pipes etc and seemed to be frequent intermittent giving faults. I have resited one PIR which I replaced with a PQ15, and added an additional PIR to the system. I ran new cable to both PIR. While I was at it, I added a new additional 9943 keypad in the master bedroom (the ca…

  24. Started by mrbill,

Can anyone recommend a simple wired alarm system with support for maybe 2 door contacts, and 4-6 PIR's. I'd like one with GSM support to SMS me when an alarm event is triggered. Any other fancy features like internet monitoring would be nice, but not necessary. This will be for domestic use - and only used very occasionally i.e. - when on holiday. No pets in the house. Thanks,
