  1. Re products: ESP Quest 14m PIR & Honeywell Intellisense IS215T 12m PIR. Can you please confirm price of these items and which produce would be more suitable for residential use. Is the ESP as good a quality as the Honeywell PIR. Could you also recommend a suitable control box (alarm) and entry keypad that would be compatible with these PIRs. Thank you.

  2. I am a building contractor with a number of sites in operation. I am interested in the GJD GSM Autodialler or Pyronix V2 GSM. Can these products be used as standalone alarm units. Can PIRs be connected directly to this unit or do I have to integrate this with an alarm control panel?

Hi, I have an ADE ID Ultimate alarm panel and connected devices, plumbed into my property. The panel has been doing some weird things of late, I have replaced the battery and checked all the fuses but still it's giving me grief. Do you have any suitable alternatives that work off the same kind of 4 wire technology to save having to re-wire the house. I have both of the 30 channels enabled but I don't have 60 items connected, I tried to split off the fire detectors from the rest of the alarm devices. Cheers,

  4. Hi, Will a Robot vacuum cleaner trigger the alarm? I'm thinking about buying a robot vacuum cleaner but I'm worried that the vacuum cleaner will set off the alarm system. What can I do to avoid false alarms. Is it best to buy pet tolerant movement detectors with dual technology or is it enough with PIR? Or will the alarm go off no matter what kind of movement detectors I use? Best regards Tomas

Hi I'm looking for a wireless intruder alarm for a one floor house. It has to include - 6 wireless PIR detectors - 1 wireless external sounder - GSM/GPRS notification capability. Right now i'm investigating the rokonet wisdom and the visonic powermax. Questions 1- Which one do you think would be the most suitable system? You can refer other systems 2- I didn't find any GSM/GPRS adaptor for the rokonet wisdom in your site. The Wisdom panel refers the capability, is it already included? If not which module should be used? Thanks Nuno

Hello, I am looking to purchase the Honeywell Galaxy 2-20 Wireless Starter Kit together with additional items (internal and external sounder, additional sensors, etc.). I am good with general electrical / electronics work but never installed alarms before. I can't find installation guide on the internet to see how easy will it be to install and configure the system. If you have installed this or similar system, could you please share your experience? Thanks

  14. Hi All We have an old ADT Accord XPC home alarm system that's been excellent. Recently we've had the alarm go off around half an house after leaving the house, then it resets itself. I've done some tests and have come to the conclusion that the problem is with our front door Reed Switch sensor. My issue is tyring to identify the door sensor I need to order - as you can see by the photos, I've taken it apart and mine has two additional resistors. Every one I've ordered so far doesn't have these resistors and wont work with my alarm system. Any help in identifying this door sensor and the replacement I need would be much appreciated. Thanks

When fitting a Scantronic 9651 panel recently I noticed it had a rechargeable battery soldered onto the PCB. I guess this is to maintain settings it case of total power failure/disconnection. Does this have a design life of 5 years like most other re-chargeables?? If so it doesn't look like it was designed to be easily replaced. And how would you know it needed replacing anyway - until it's too late? Phil.

Hi, I have a Castle care-tech euro mini and need to add another PIR to a FSL zone which already has a PIR. i.e. I need to wire two PIR's in series. Unfortunately the manual does not give any details how to do this and I have not found any helpful information on the net either. I would be most grateful if someone can point me in the right direction to achieve this. Thanks in advance. Mel.

I have replaced an old Optima panel, (18 years old) with a new Optima Compact. All works fine except the LED in the PIR does not flash like they used to when I walk into a room and the alarm is not set. You can still hear the relay click in the PIR. Only the panel wiring has been touched. Any suggestions what to check as I have already checked the wiring, or does the new Optima panel work slightly different than the old one. Robin
