  1. I am looking at controlling 2 outdoor PIRs and lighting as 2 seperate zones. I notice that you have the emerald unit and the Voltek unit. I have the following questions:

    1. will the units work with any manufacturer of PIR (12v) and lighting?

    2. Do you stock the 'GJD base 2' which is required for the emerald unit? I notice you stock 4 zone expansion unit (GJD040).

    3. Can you tell me what I would require for the Voltek 2 Zone systemas well as the TZX command centre?

    4. do you have a general schematic for a 2 zone simple system?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Thanks for the reply.

Heat build up is not an issue. The cupboard is a large one, the only space

restriction is directly above and below where the Panel is sited.

This is because there are other fittings above and below the panel which

could interfere with the opening of the front cover if it is

    hinged.....hence my original question.

So, does the front cover need to hinge to open or can it be completely

    removed?

I await your reply so I can place my order.

  3. I am planning to replace an old intruder alarm system with all new equipment. The only problem I can foresee is the space available for the control panel (fitted in a meter cupboard).

The existing panel is a GARTEC (h175xw210xd70).

An ACCENTA MINI GEN4 (h200xw253xd55) will fit in the space available but there will be little room (approx 20mm) above and below the panel.

My question is: How does the front cover of the panel open and/or how is it removed? Does it hinge (top & bottom) and will I have enough room to open/remove it?

  4. We're about to install an Accenta Mini Gen4 with conventional intruder detectors, remote keypads and an external bell sounder. We will also have a number of Menvier M12 smoke detectors on Zones 7 & 8 for 24-hour fire detection.

If Zones 7 & 8 trigger, we're expecting the Accenta to display an appropriate alarm on the RKPs and do 2-sec on / 2-sec off signalling on the external bell box.

If possible, we also wish to fit an all-in-one sounder / strobe unit in a specific room to ensure that the occupants understand that the "bells that they can hear ringing in the distance" are indicating a fire alarm (and that they should evacuate). We're uncertain if something like the EPS Fireline Combined Banshee Sounder & Strobe could be successfully used in this configuration or whether we're stuck with just attaching a 16ohm speaker to the Accenta's Extension Speaker output (with no strobe).

What unit(s) would you recommend to meet our requirements - bearing in the mind the available outputs on the Accenta? Also, any guidance on wiring?

  5. We have an 8 year old 4-channel SD1 unit in a holiday home in France that has recently stopped dialling out. The other functions (message record/test playback etc) appear to work. When you send a test call (put into ready & press A1 for instance) it immediately plays back the correct message over the internalspeaker 4x but does not appear to wait to detect the dialing tone, or phone out. The adjacent spurred 56V socket works with normal phone and 56V detected at SD1 phone input terminals i.e. probably not supply problem. From listening on the line it appears be trying to pulse dial (it used to tonedial) but forcing tone via phonenumber T-prefix makes no difference neither did introducing additional comma delays, or doing a factory reset & reprogram. It has worked fine for 8 years. I note adverts now selling European & French versions - has the phone system changed (property nr Nimes in Languedoc region) so that our existing unit is now obsolete there, or has the dialer component simply malfunctioned? Either way do I need a new unit and which version. Is there any advantage in getting the slightly more expensive remote reprogrammable equivalents (ie. what else do they do)& do you stock these?

  6. I currently have a Texecom R8 house alarm. I need to replace the main circuit board, so I thought I would upgrade to the Excel, use the Existing R8 as a remote keypad in an alternative location and install an new PIR sensor while I was at it.

The question is. Is the existing R8 keypad compatible with the Excel board? (as an additional remote keypad) and will the existing PIR sensors operate correctly?

Do you use any further problems?

    Note: The main unit I am considering ordering is;

  7. I am keen to purchase a Texecom Veritas Excel Panel with LCD keypad and an additional LED keypad for a second door. I see your kit includes the LCD keypad and I can order a second keypad. I already have one R8 Plus installed and can program these. I am also keen to obtain the PC-COM cable to make programming easier. I have found one on your site. I wanted to ask if this was compatible with the Excel panel and also if the software is supplied or easily downloaded.

I would also like to order a 12v battery for this. I can obtain this from you or from local Maplin - i would prefer to order all from one place if I can.

Finally, I already have PIRs in place as this will replace another panel. I will also need an external sounder kit and wondered if you could recommend one from your stock based on compatibility with this. I need nothing special other than audio sounder, strobe and ideally visual flashing to indicate presence.

I can order everything on your website as soon as I hear from you.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

  8. I am going to install a pedestrian gate at the front of my house to improve security.

Can you please advise the best and most cost effective solution. I would like the following, either wired or wireless, specifications:-

    - weather proof lock - either maglock or electric strike

    - audio intercom and door bell with push button lock release from inside the house

    - hands-free proximity sensors for access from outside

  9. Hi, I notice on the website that you sell spare Covers for the GJD Opal PIR detectors, and I'm trying to find out if the covers fit all Opal detectors or just recent ones ?

I've three detectors that have been in use for around 12 to 15 years, which I'd like to get some spare covers for.

I don't see any model numbers on the detectors or their original packaging, other than the words "GJD OPAL" on the PIR PCB.
