Intruder alarms, programming, design advise, detector selection.

  1. Hi I have been going on at my folks for years to get an alarm system. My father is competent with electrical wiring, but I am clueless with alarm systems and compatibility issues. Can someone kindly reccommend a system or components for a system to cover the following specification that I've worked out: Bell box - tamperproof, foam resistant Internal audible quad alarm (my father is semi deaf) 4 pet friendly pirs - one fat labrador 100 m white cable Control panel - that can programme the four zones, door contact and garage contact - all armed for vacant house or some armed for occupied bedtime/overnight User friendly Lcd keypad (large text display if possible) t…

  3. Hi, I self-installed a Euro Mini about a year ago. I have two keypads installed, one upstairs and one downstairs. It's been working fine since I installed it but now its giving me error 485 COMMNS LOST. Neither of the keypads respond. If I open the panel box or the keypad to fault find, the tamper alarm will sound and I have now way of overriding it! 1. Any ideas what would cause this problem (error 485)? Does the keypad or panel have a keypad fuse? If so would a blown fuse cause this error? 2. Without a working keypad, how do I override the tamper alarm? Thanks in advance.

Hi I am trying to get an MRnode to connect to an M800 all wired up and everything seems ok, it is detected on start up. I am removed the cover of the MRnode pressed the select button to go into learn mode, and tried to link a 702 wrist transmitter all seems correct, one completing the learn I have put the cover back on to take the MRnode out of learn mode, but as soon as this happens I get an alert from the panel saying Lost device (or something along those lines) and the MRnode doesn't show on the network! Any ideas?? Thanks Richard

Hi, I am looking for some help and advice with selecting an alarm system for the house I am currently renovating. It is a four bedroom house with an external garage which I would also like protecting. I would prefer a wired system as from my experiences at work, I am not fully convinced of the reliability of wireless technology! I am nearing the first-fix stage so now is the time to start planning the alarm system. I am an industrial electrician and plan to install it myself but I have no prior experience of alarm systems or installation. Here are my thoughts so far: 1.) A colleague recommended Bosch Blue Line BLD-P sensors, what do you guys think? Would one of these…

Hello SecurityWarehouse I still havent got a bellbox for my system yet (Accenta G4)... I was thinking of getting one that is hardly visible and I wanted quality so I thought of Texecom! I have been looking at their Odyssey's and I think the 4E does just that. On your website, you have the Odyssey 4 and the Odyssey 4E live backplates in either clear or blue. If I was to get a "clear" 4E live backplate will the strobe lens be clear along the outside or blue? Basically the strobe is around the edge of the unit and I would like to know if that wrap around strobe reflector blue or clear? Its just i've seen pictures and some…

Hi, I seem to have my Gen 4 almost working as desired with my existing BG (DSC) equipment, however for the life of me I cannot seem to get the strobe light working. The Bell will work but not the strobe. The existing bell box wires where listed as (+) Red, (-) Black (which I have hooked both of these up to the bell connectors), AUX = Blue and Strobe = Green. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please can anyone help with the following re. Intruder Alarm system Scantronic 9800+. (9827) In brief, there is a code showing as bF which I understand through d/loading the User manual means: battery fault on the control panel. The alarm has been going off several times a day for nearly a week and I disconnected the ringer several days ago but am too worried to open up the control panel in case it then goes off again and I can't press the code to stop the noise once the faccia is removed. However, I need to see inside in order to know what type of battery I need to buy to replace the present faulty battery. Any assistance would be much appreciated, Thank you, Tum…

I am currently using standard 2 wire (common tamper) and have linked the unused zones which seems to be working but the engineer manaul says 9(eol) wiring is more secure, I am thinking of changing it to use eol wiring(I am using eurosec PIR without fault or mask terminal), if I do this then it would leave me 2 unused zones plus unused tamper(which becomes 9th zone), do I need to link them as before or do I need to link them using some 4k7 resistors as the other zones? also in the engineer manual it says you should select 9(eol) in the wiring option(page 23 of manual) and then normal (standard gardtec wiring configuration without mask or fault detection) but then it says i…

Hi, System ADE Poly Gen4 with LCD keypad Is there any way in which I can permanently enable the LCD and Keypad backlight on the Accenta Gen4 LCD Keypad. The current default state is that they illuminate for about 30 secs following a keypress. My previous ADE system (LED Keypad) had backlit buttons on all the time which I found quite helpful. Bob
