My Honeywell Optima Compact intruder alarm system, now 16 months old, is activating tamper alarms at random times, in both Day and Set modes. These reset straight away. I have linked out the panel terminals for both the sensor tamper loop and the remote LCD keypad tamper loop, which takes a wiring or tamper switch fault out of the equation. The tamper alarm still activates every couple of days (or nights .... it went off at three this morning!). Question; does this indicate a control panel hardware fault or a software fault? And if the panel is faulty, is it still under warranty?

I'm looking for a replacement for my Response SA5 which I have had installed from a previous property on a 'temporary' (5 years!) basis whilst I finish a self build house project. I now have around 16 separate, hard-wired door/window contacts and I want a new system that allows them to be individually monitored. On top of that, I'd like to have 6 or so wireless zones for possible future expansion eg garden shed etc. The next requirement is to have a built in voice dialer. Lastly, I want to be able to access the system via the internet in the event of an alarm so I can interact with it - switch it off, see which zone has been triggered etc. I already have s…

I currently have a wireless Scantronic alarm system which I am hoping to service myself. Currently it is flashing for a new battery. Firstly are you able to provide a new battery for the control boxes? Secondly if I open the box I assume it will go into tamper mode, are you able to advise whether I can source an engineer code?

Hello again I've recently come across a fault with the above type of detector. I seem to be getting either the sensor false firing or possible emc problems. I've lowered the sensitivity with the internal jumper but the fault is still present, all connections and continuity through cable seems to be good this is why I'm now thinking it could be emc. If it is emc does anyone know of a cure that doesn't involve re-running of cable. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi guys, just a quickie. Can you tell if the the Visonic Powermax+ Quickfit Kit (inc Wireless sounder)kit has the dialler built in? Can you set and unset via your telephone after an activation and can it send you a text message to let you know when the alarm is set/unset? I can't find any spec online fort his product. If you could email me a link that would be just as good. Have a good evening. Dan.

I installed a system a year ago which I purchased from you and it seems to have developed a fault. Initially when a walk test was done it wouldnt identify some of the zones and then removed the cover from the unit and I cannot get rid of the cover tamper warning so cannot set the system. Do you think the control unit has gone U/S. steve

Hi was wondering if anyone could help, I've just installed my first visonic powermax complete intruder system and I have a problem with the wireless siren. What seems to happen is I enrol the siren using the selftest button and it operates normally then after a couple of days the siren doesn't sound under an alarm condition and seems to totally drop of the system. I'm now wondering if it's a dud battery or a possible pcb fault. I've tried using the diagnostic function to check and keep getting the (not ok) message and I've also measured the battery and it seems fine but I'm not sure if the draw is dragging it down once connected. If anyone can help it would be much apprec…

Hi, I have the task of extending an alarm system to cover a small external cupboard and am after some advice with regards to the type of sensor to use. The cupboard is 3ft wide x 4ft deep x 4ft tall... not huge... it has one of those tubular 45w heaters installed that is nearly permanently on over winter. The cupboard is secured by a heavy duty wooden door and what looks to be a fairly decent lock. The cupboard houses about

I have installed the gen4 alarm and then have just bought a extra keypad to add on to the system. I had a led keypad which I have know used up stairs, and the new keypad is a LCD which is down stairs. do you have to stick to just led keypads or can you mix led with LCD. when I wired it in it blew the fuse on the board and the battery fuse blew,I replaced the fusees and the transformer got rely warm, also came up with tamper fault lockout on keypad.I then disconnected the led keypad, and left the new LCD keypad connected to the system.the system now has no power to it,but still works on the battery power.have checked the wiring several times through the process but cant ex…

I am having difficulty making the low temperature output on my SD3 dialler work correctly. I would like the dialler to send me a text message when temperature drops below the alarm threshold. However, despite the "test outputs" suggesting all is functioning OK the unit does not seem to be triggering the alarm properly. I have it configured as follows: Output 3 is set to Temperature Low/ Negative Polarity Output 3 has single wire to Trigger C Triggers are set to (default) negative polarity Trigger C Alarm is routed to Contact 1 In Test Options switching on Output 3 gives correct "Trig C Alarm" in System Log In Test Options testing Trigger C correctly sends m…

Hi all... I am a sparky with a builder that would like an additional keypad adding to his Gardtec 591. The current keypad is a Contour with ACE - I assume this is a keyfob system. He only has one code, and the system was under contract with an alarm company by the previous owner, so... 1. Is his code likely to allow the integration of another keypad? 2. As he doesn't have any keyfobs (ACE) does he need another ACE compatible keypad - if not what pad would do? 3. Does the 591 allow factory resets? 4. Is a new system the better option? Many thanks, Simannjo

Hi A friend of mine has bought a shop with a g3 alarm panel. Nobody knows the codes to use the alarm. I have tried various engineer codes but none work. Is there a way round this or is it a new main panel job. Thanks

Please can you clarify whether it is possible to have the Receiver and the Transmitter running on/from different power supplies. We have asituation where the alarm power supply cannot be supplied to the transmitter but can be to the receiver, so in theory it will function. If it is possible, do you have such a power supply - we assume a plug in transformer will do.
