Intruder Alarms

Intruder alarms, programming, design advise, detector selection.

  1. I have a few PowerMax questions that I hope you can help me with: - Which frequency band is PowerMax+ and PowerMaxPro operating at? - How much is it for the PowerMaxPro unit (incl. GSM and Powerlink) together with 2 x keyfobs, 2 x smoke detectors and 2 x motion detectors? - Is it possible to connect a Powerlink and GSM module to to the PowerMax+?

  2. I am looking to replace my current alarm system with a new modern system. One of my main requirements is to allow remote access to the system, and so I am looking at the Scantronic i-on 40. Although all of my sensors are wired the wireless capability will be handy if I have to upgrade in the future. I also require SMS messaging through GSM and PSTN so would be looking to also install these modules as well as one extra wireless keypad. My main concern at the moment is how the wired sensors and PIRs are connected to the i-on 40 system to ensure it will work with my current installation. Can you provide any information as to how the zones are wired on the system, or are …

Hi informa bought with accenta poly gen4 (LCD Keypad) on 23 March. Alarm installed ok. Informa wired as per instructions. Programmed phone number and recorded message. When testing, you can hear number being dialled on the infoma box and then shortly after you hear the recorded message but the programmed telephone does not ring. Tried it with different numbers and programmed the number on 1,2&3. When trying it with a mobile phone number, the mobile didn\'t ring but received a missed call from the unit about 5 minutes later (this didn\'t happen everytime we tried the mobile - nothing came through). thanks

  7. I Purchased a Galaxy Dimension panel last week. It didn't come with an installation or programming manual.I have found some information on line. But need a few answers if possible. What are the external bell box connections? What are the internal sounder connections? I have the system operating with a few detectors and the system has 1 fault which is because it does not have a telephone connection. Can this facility be turned of as I don't need this facility at the moment? If not what is the best way to clear this fault so the system has no faults and is usable.

Hi in looking for an intruder alarm system, I want to install it across a 30 meter doorway in a shed on a farm. I think a break beam system would be the most appropriate system. The doorways are unsecured in any other way, there is no door to close across the opening. I would need an alarm that could be heard up,to 750 meters away Thansk

Hello. Do you have an Intellisense IQ260 replacement/equivalent please. I have one in my garage, after doing some refurbishment to the building I was thinking of installing an additional sensor as a single one can no longer cover the area. That is if 2 pir's be installed in the same zone/room? an 8 core cable is installed however only 1 core remains unused. If 2 can be used on same cable maybe better to buy two identical detectors and do away with the IQ260? Thank you.

  13. My internal sounder registered fine with the domonial control panel, and on viewing through engineering mode always registers a high signal (7/10) However, whenever I set (full or part) the alarm, typically every other time I get the 'INT SOUNDER RADIO LINK' error. I've configured the system to ignore these errors and set regardless without requiring confirmation - but my worry is there is a fault which might mean the sounder does not go off in case of intrusion. Last week I tried changing the batteries (on the off-chance the batteries supplied were low given the packaging was open), but this did not solve the problem. The positioning of the sounder is very cl…

  14. I just received my Visonic Tower PIR, and I'm nut quite sure it is operation correctly. I installed the PIR as per instructions, about 2,3 meters up and with an angle setting of 5. This should give me at least a +/- 10 meter 90 degrees coverage. While in test mode it already showed "blank" areas where detection failed, and fully operational it will erractically detect motion (I keep in minde the 2 minute reset period after initial motion detection). Sometimes it will only detect motion within a few inches, sometimes not at all. I would be grateful for advice in this matter. Regards,

  15. We have recently moved in to a house fitted with a Scantronic 9448 alarm system. We believe we need to replace the PIR detectors to pet tolerant ones (as we have two house cats) and I wanted to check before I go ahead and purchase them that the 430 PIR will be compatible with the existing system?

  16. I installed 3 years ago a Scantronic 9651 Hardwired Control Unit. I wish to install 3 new PIR detectors and would enquire which of your products is most suitable. I note Scantronic do a pet tolerant PIR ref 430. Is this compatable with the standard 6 wire system?

  17. I need to replace a PIR on my 500r+ system. I've got 515r PIR's and notice you've got 520r PIR's "compatible with 500r+" so it looks like that's a reasonable replacement. Can you confirm that it would be a viable replacement, operates on the same frequency etc.

  18. have purchased the Honeywell model from you DT7450 and have just come to start fitting it. However looking at the instructions it states don't fit facing direct sunlight or facing windows yet its a "dual tech" that you recommended for a conservatory. I now that me previous conservatory had a similar model but as it was approaching ten years old and the size of a house brick, I thought I would replace it. Is this Honeywell model suitable?

  25. Item Scantronic 9651UK with 9941 keypad. I installed this control unit to replace another 9651 unit which had developed a fault. After installation I tried to exit the 'Installer Mode' and the unit reported 'Zone Flt' on zones Z01 through Z08 and the Service LED is permanently illuminated. I have checked power to the Ziper intruder detectors and circuit continuity for the FSLs and they seem to be OK. I did notice that the 9651 unit had a manufacturer's date of Jan 05, so it seems to have been in storage for some considerable time but that aside I would appreciate some assistance in identifying where the problem lies and if it is a defective unit, getting it swapped out.…
