When designing an intruder alarm systems some basic information needs to be gathered. Apart from the specialist regulations (BS 4737 has been withdrawn) of BS EN 50131, PD6662, DD243 etc, BS 7671 and Part P is still relevant for cable sizing, methods of fixing recording voltages etc. But lets start with some basics 1, Domestic Installations Probably one of the most common systems. This would usually be a Grade 1 or 2x (both audible only). A risk assessment must be carried out and this will decide grade. Also the insurance company may have some input on a minimum grade they will accept. Look for things like easy access points, flat roofs, weak doors etc. These area…

I have a couple of questions if anyone can assist please before I order. I am using 3 x tritechs in house (a little ott but for pet tolerance) - I also have a conservatory that gets very hot but will not have pets. Should I just use another tritech or would a DT7450 be better? Has anyone used the Texecom Odyssey 5 compact or is it best to stick with full size? I have 3 x M12 smoke alarms on 1 zone and my installer doesnt have much experience of fitting these when using resistors. He was going to check but can anyone advise what may be required else we will just wire the whole system with seperate tamper circuit. thanks

Having received my domonial kit it had no instructions with the panel. I've spoken to Honeywell and they have emailed a copy but it seems to suggest that I need some programming software to program this panel... There isn't any with my pack. Can someone please tell me what's going on?

Hello again I've recently come across a fault with the above type of detector. I seem to be getting either the sensor false firing or possible emc problems. I've lowered the sensitivity with the internal jumper but the fault is still present, all connections and continuity through cable seems to be good this is why I'm now thinking it could be emc. If it is emc does anyone know of a cure that doesn't involve re-running of cable. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I recently purchased a galaxy flex 20 and 4 DT7450-EOL motion sensors. I wired the sensor according to the instruction manual of the motion sensor. the fault loop to zone 1, Alarm test and tamper to zone 2. The "test" to the +12V since the flex control panel doesn't have a "remote led control". see galaxt installation manual page 17 for the wiring schem in the flex manual. see page 3 for the wiring of the sensor This doesn't seem to work. Can anybody tell if the wiring is correct? I find it odd that no connection is made on the V+ and V- of the sensor.

Hi, I am thinking about buying a Le Sucre alarm system. I am discouraged to buy a professionally installed system because of the high maintenance charges. Is the installation of the Le Sucre system straightforward enough for a member of the public to install? I have some technical knowledge so it would help if you could highlight any specific challenges. Many thanks.

Dear sirs, I'm about to order a complete Texecom hardwired alarm system and I would like some help. Firstly I already own and I have prepared the cavity on my aluminum doors/windows for this magnetic contacts (https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/intruder-alarm-c-36/door-contacts-switches-c-36_44/knightbiased-flush-pencil-single-reed-6core-4k72k2-brown-p-4544.html) My question to you is (by your knowledge) is there any chance of interfering with the aluminum material? Aluminum is not ferromagnetic but is paramagnetic metal. I would appreciate any input on this concern

I currently have a wireless Scantronic alarm system which I am hoping to service myself. Currently it is flashing for a new battery. Firstly are you able to provide a new battery for the control boxes? Secondly if I open the box I assume it will go into tamper mode, are you able to advise whether I can source an engineer code?

Hi, I'm looking to install an alarm system on a static caravan in an owners only holiday park. I only plan to use internal sounders (quite possibly just concealed speakers in the roof space connected to the panel) as I don't plan on disturbing neighbours in the event of a *prolonged* power outage. These would be close enough to the external vent to be easily heard outside - but also uncomfortable internally and very difficult to access. I'm after advice with regards to the most suitable PIR sensor to use. I'm planning on using a dual tech variant, but need one with a decently adjustable microwave range. Could you recommend one? I'm currently swaying tow…

Good morning, Thank you for your email regarding the cover for my Flash Guard sounder. I am quite happy to purchase a new unit but would like to know if the six core cable that controlled the old unit will be ok for a new one. I have included a photo of the old unit and to which colour went to which connection on the vertical block located on the left of the photo. 1- Yellow (Tamp out) 2- White (Tamp in) 3- 4- Blue (Supply minus) 5- 6- Green (Trigger) 7- Red (Strobe plus) 8- Black (Trobe minus) There was then a Red coming from a battery going to the plus connection on the small terminal block. I hope this will help in recommending the right sounder for my application.

I need to install a Eurosec LCD RKP keypad to replace the existing keypad which is working but worn out (keys don't work very well). If I just remove the old one and connect the existing wiring to the equivalent connectors on the new one will everything just work as normal or will the system need to be reprogrammed?

Subject says it all really: I've installed a Scantronic 9651EN-43 into an existing "wired" house and extended the system using the Visonic MCT-302/MCR-308R wireless system. I've linked the Visonic zone output into the 9651 zones and also linked the anti-tamper into the main loop as well. The Visonic can send a low battery warning and I need some suggestions as to how the 9651 can handle this? Obviously, it needs to bring the warning to the home owner's attention, but it can't prevent setting the system or set off a full-blown alarm if it occurs whilst the system is set. Many thanks for your assistance!

I'm looking for a replacement for my Response SA5 which I have had installed from a previous property on a 'temporary' (5 years!) basis whilst I finish a self build house project. I now have around 16 separate, hard-wired door/window contacts and I want a new system that allows them to be individually monitored. On top of that, I'd like to have 6 or so wireless zones for possible future expansion eg garden shed etc. The next requirement is to have a built in voice dialer. Lastly, I want to be able to access the system via the internet in the event of an alarm so I can interact with it - switch it off, see which zone has been triggered etc. I already have s…
