Hi I am looking into buying a Visonic home alarm system Is it possible to mount a curtain detector across a room, i.e. creating a wall (a foot inside of a number of windows), even though there might be chairs etc on the floor?

Good afternoon, I purchased a Veritas system with lcd keypad. The issue I have is that the keypad is showing a tamper fault and the tamper switch does not seem to be working. I have check all of the system and everything else seems in order. Is there an reason this would be a fault ? Kindest regards

  4. So I am sorry in advance for the many questions, but I would rather ask that mess something up. I have decided to install my own wired alarm at home which is working out cheaper than the wireless options in the shops, I have opted for a Texecom Veritas Excel with LCD keypad, Texecom PIR's, Contacts, ext bell and also a Pyronix twin speaker/internal siren. First question - Should my brand new alarm panel smell (like electrical burny smell) ? Are they tested before being sent out. NO evidence of ever being fitted and no signs of board damage or heat exchange to components. It is brand new .... not refurbed or used. Secondly, I am putting the main control panel …

Hello I have an Ademco Vista, I need to replace it. We have a 4 bed house, probably about 7 PIR's. What kind of system can I put in to replace it? I'm not sure what type the bell box is, maybe you can deduce that from the panel name. Currently connected to the Vista is receiver and speaker which is used with a IR/Radio keyfob to arm/disarm. Ideally we'd like to replace that with a similar system, and additionally put in a dialler. Regarding diallers, is there a DECT version, our phone line is not next to the panel? Cheers Andrew

Have Risco removed the ability to show the status on the LCD keypad? I've made sure that the Keypad is installed onto the system, but when I go into the Programming Custom Screens menu, It shows LCD Status = None. When I say NO, it just moves on to LED Status, and doesn't give me the option to change the setting to Full (for status always on) or Set/Unset which it always used to!! Is there another setting I need to alter first before I'm allowed to change the "display the status" setting?? Any help appreciated

My question is this. Are all the biscuits in an 11-20 blue-pack (as above) the same, apart from the numbered stickers, or is the internal wiring different? I ask because I've just broken a No 20 while attempting to replace a doorbell plate. Can I use another biscuit from the same pack as a replacement, or will this upset my alarm system? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm no expert. I've asked for high-priority because my house alarm is disabled by the problem.

Hi all, I fitted the above about 6 months ago, the following is the setup: GD-48 3x MK8 Keypad's 1x External powered RIO Handful of PIR's Handful of G3 door mags Elmdene bell box Ethernet Module for Self Mon All has been working excellently up until today, the alarm put out a tamper so all 3 keypads were beeping constantly, upon me trying to input a user code or the manager code not 1 of the keypads would accept any key presses. While this is ongoing randomly on different keypads the static white LED would flash rapidly, also the beeping would stop altogether then start again. I eventually managed to get into the system using the manager code to…

  15. I am putting together an alarm system for a domestic house using the 75 as the base system but need to add a couple of extra features which don't come in the box ! I am planning on having two master blasters, one inside and one out, these will be the 12v relay versions, will they wire straight into the panel without additional hardware? I also need to turn on about four 240v external floodlights upon activation of the alarm ( say 2000 watts total load ) will any additional hardware be required for these? I am an absolute alarm virgin so if you can keep it as simple as possible I would be very grateful. Thanks for your help

Hi, Perhaps I could ask your advice as to what alarm system I should install. Firstly I should point out that I am a chartered instrumentation engineer so am used to dealing with complex wired and programmable systems - provided that the appropriate instructions are available to me. I have a three bed property which is in a rural location. The village that I live in has been subject to a recent spate of breakins and alarm systems are springing up all over. My priorities are 1) To discourage a burgalr to even attempting a breakin. 2) Should he attempt a breakin to alarm at the earliest possible opportunity preferably before he has actualy gained access. I …

  17. I would need to know which wireless receiver ( output relay ) you have that is compatible with door contacts from Inovonics - model EE1210W?

  18. Started by Secware,

I think I have damaged the PCB. It shorted as I was removing a connection when still live. I've replaced the blown fuse but, on rewiring, it alarms as soon as the system is set. I'm confident the wiring is correct & unit programming OK (I did a factory reset). There is no fault with the PIRs. Any suggestions on how to remedy?

Hi, We are looking for a UL approved device and the Honeywell unit does not have that, please see my full specification below Our application calls for motion detection within a space (floor area of max 6mx4m) mounted at a height of nominally 2.5 – 3m with angle and rotational adjustment to optimise operation. Hence the request for the Bosch mounting bracket. We only require a single relay contact for detection of motion. (switching duty 24Vdc at < 10mA) PIR supply 24vdc operation preferred if possible, if not 12Vdc operation is OK. This application is for the US market and UL approval is specified. Hence the initial request for the Bosch PIR. Tamper faci…

  20. I'm trying to decide which battery to purchase for my G2-44 system that I'm ready to order from Securitywarehouse, and I'd like to know if the Control Panel supplied with the LCD Keypad (Model: C044-01-KPD) is the plastic or the metal one since there is a difference in the battery size (7Ah vs 17Ah). Thanks!

Hi all Looking to purchase a wireless alarm for my house. 5pir's, 1 contact, panel. Would like to use existing wired bell box if possible. A good battery life would also be nice. Been looking at the infinite prime alarm, and the visonic powermax kit. The Scantronic 500r also looks ok Only problem is that the powermax plugs in with a plug in transformer, wouldn'y that be easy to defeat by a burglar? Any advice would be great Thanks Josh

  22. We have purchased 4 x Texecom 3D PETWISE and 4 x Texecom 3D Quad PIRs (order number 22362) and we are in the process of installing the PIRs. All the PETWISE PIRs are working fine but only 1 out of 4 3D Quad PIRs are working. The 3 3D Quads don't have the LED lighting up when 12V DC power was applied. The LED jumper is ON but none of the 3 works. 3 failures out of 4 is pretty poor quality control. One of the three failed 3D PIRs bodies has been installed on the wall. Please advise if there is anything else that we need to check before returning them for warranty replacement.

Hi - wonder if anyone can help ? Just fitted this system - all is well, except I want to be able to set a chime against a zone when the system is in set mode. No problem setting a chime against a zone when unset but there doesnt appear to be an option to apply a chime to a zone when set. Is there anyway of doing that ? Regards

  24. Hi I need a full system. The main building requires 9 zones and there is an outbuilding within 15 yards of the main building which has mains power and requires 2 zones. I believe that for the outbuilding I need a wireless expander as I do not want to fit wireless sensors. The main building is suitable for a wired setup. I would appreciate some guidance on a suitable, cost effective control panel and accessories.

  25. Hi, My friend has gone away and has had a power cut. She has a Scantronic 9448+ alarm system. The front panel is 9427 style. We can not reconnect her power as the alarm keeps sounding off. How do we re set her alarm in order to turn her power back on?
