A friend of mine is after buying the SECWARE 4-Channel Entry Level 160Gb Digital Video Recorder (Product 101/135). He was hoping to use his laptop with it and it is windows vista with AVG antivirus. When loading the disk on to the PC it says that the system needs to be windows 2000 or XP. So it doesn't seem to support vista. AVG also detects that the disk contains a Trojan on it and shows up a warning every time I insert the disk. Do you have a vista version of the software that I can download from anywhere? Can I also ask you? Is this software for backup only or is there a way to view it through the laptop too? If not, is there a converter that is required to…

I have a Philips Observation CCTV system with Bosch cameras. the philips monitor powers the cameras which are wired with UTP cable and an RJ11 connector. I am using 4 Voltek, CT 122 Cameras on my house. But the one on the front cannot read number plates. So I have been told, the Voltek vpcdn2 is much sharper? (more pixels)? Or can you recomend a camera for me? (colour). That I can connect to, 6-pin-mini socket, and 6-way/RJ11 plug?

I am looking to purchase a hard disc recorder to record images from up to four surveillance cameras (BNC connections) as part of my experimental work looking at behavioural responses of animals. Our community hall has a CCTV system based around a Mitsubishi 1024E time lapse recorder which is 7 years old. We are experiencing tape drive problems and wonder if the recorder has reached the end of its useful life. I note that the Vista VVRL-27 is listed as a replacement. Hi, for the NV-214A-M device, do I need a device at each end of the twisted pair, so that the video feed from a remote camera can be fed into the BNC connector on a Samsung SRD873A ?

I need to setup a camera focused on one specific cabinet in a bar. The camera needs to be activated when somebody opens that cabinet and shut off when it gets closed or 30 seconds after closing. I have a few cctv cameras already (from a different application and now un-used) but no DVR. I was wondering if there was some sort of wireless magnetic relay activation that could be used with a PC running some sort of recording software. I'm looking for ideas at this point since motion activation of the camera would be ludicrous. I'd be going through 18 hours of video a day to try and find the right 15 seconds. Please could you advise/recommend a simple set up that would meet my customers needs. I require a housed camera that can simply read car number plates in day and night at a distance of 15-20m or so. A DVR (no CD writer required) to record just the one channel perhaps a USB interface to transfer film to archive. Then finally a TFT flat screen 13/14 inch nothing expensive.
