The standalone reader will only give you a volateg output on valid tag/card. The HID unit will output data. However this infomation is not in the public domain.

 

Depending on what you want to do, you would be better off going for an access system based on ms sql and then queriing the db direct, or using a system that gives a 232 output and getting your data from their.

Actually reading the data reader would be difficult IMO.
