Secware
Hi, do you stock a PIR that uses a DC voltage and can be installed outdoors? Thanks.
Secware2
Please find link below: https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/optex-vxist-12m-wide-angle-twin-sensor-outdoor-pir-p-3877.html
Secware_Tech6
What's the application?
jogu
Of the ones that are sensibly priced and look like they won't generate false alarms, the Pyronix XD10TT-AM is the best match I've found so far: https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/pyronix-xd10ttam-high-security-outdoor-detector-p-3912.html 12V, dual PIR + microwave, pet (wildlife) immune - the spec seems to tick all the buttons. I plan to use it for a combination of a driveway chime, to activate a flood light (in combination with a photocell), and as in input to start CCTV recording. It has an (optional) wall bracket that looks well worth getting too.
Secware_Tech6
I personally wouldnt use pyronix for that. I rate the takex pir or an optex in that application. But if its just for cctv then im assuming false alarms are not an issue?
jogu
Thanks for your thoughts! Have you had bad experiences with the pyronix? I was hoping the inclusion of microwave tech + it's pet immunity would reduce false activations. You're right that false activations aren't a major issue, but currently the security lights (controlled from a cheap PIR) keep coming on all night when it's windy and that's freaking my wife out, so I was hoping to improve on that. We get a lot of cats and foxes as well. Would the pet immune takex ( https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/takex-external-12m-pet-tolerant-pir-dual-head-p-2038.html ) and optex ( https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/optex-12m-wide-outdoor-sensor-with-anti-mask-p-3967.html ) be what you recommend? They seem to be about double the price for a similar (on paper) spec to the pyronix - just trying to understand the difference, I'm not adverse to paying more to get something that performs better. Secware_Tech6
I suppose the easiest way is to say on my own system at home i use the takex. Tried cheaper ones but settled on the takex.
Secware_Tech6
Do you need the dual head takex?
jogu
Thanks, that's useful info. And no, I don't need the dual head, I'd missed the single head one when searching - guess https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/takex-external-12m-pet-tolerant-pir-single-head-p-2037.html is suitable for my purposes. (The data sheet on that page is wrong by the way, it seems to be the one for the dual-head model.)
