HiI have been asked to install/add 2 Texecom AEB-0001 Impaq Plus Shock Sensor to a Scantronic 9448 alarm panel. (18 months old)There are 4 spare zones so that is not a problem, my question is will the 9448 panel support these type of Shock Sensors or could anyone recommend a more suited Shock Sensor?I will be glad to hear if any one thinks the panel is not suitableThankyouRichard

Hi I would be interested in buying Visonic alarm system. However I am not clear on the PowerLink functionality. Do I have to have Visonic IPMP server installed separately to support PowerLink for exactly this: sending emails/MMS messages with pictures from connected cameras UPON alarm trigger.

  4. On the verge of ordering the new Powermaster 10 kit from Visonic.Looks exceptional. Two questions if I may: 1) I understand that the line from the telephone master socket must connect to LINE. However is it crucial that the main telephone is connected to SET. I think this set-up allows the alarm to sieze the incoming call. Would it be possible to run the telephone off an extension socket or from the master socket itself. Also there is some info about RJ31X plug which gets over the problem- is this USA only? I also understand that the GPRS/GPS module gets over the problem 2)An IP camera is available in this system. Can this be accessed by the homeuser o…

Some say that you should avoid to direct detectors against windows. Is that correct? I´m going to use Bosch Blue Line Gen 2 Pet Friendly detectors. But maybe I don´t use the pet-mode, beacuse I don´t need to do it right now. But if it do it safer against false alarms, pointing detector againt windows, I will.

We currently have a Karisma Plus wired system installed. There are 9 zones. It is getting creaky, I have repaired it several times, time for a change. Our Ancient house is not good for wifi, so I want to stick with a wired system for reliability, using existing wires as these are hidden. The Karisma uses a 3 wire id device, which made wiring and set up easy. Is there an equivalent today? Or what do you recommend? Integrating fire detection / alarm would be useful.

I have a twenty years old DA Systems Abacus 6P control panel. Each of the six zones is split with two PIR's on each zone. The existing PIR's are believed to be by Comet (but could be Stella or Apollo)and each has an integrated zone spliter so enabling three wire connection(12v+ 0v and tamper). Can you supply a replacement for the PIR's.

Hi, I have been looking to buy accessories for Visonic Powermaster 10G system of which I already have a panel and some accessories bought in Sweden. On many accessories it says "will only work with UK panels". Is this actually the case that I would not be able to get these to work with a panel bought in Sweden (sounds strange that Visonic would manufacture special equipment for UK only?)?

  14. Hi I am interested in purchasing the Scantronic Homelink 55 system for use at my private residence - this will allow me to upgrade my existing system and utilise the alarm cabling with the added ability to install future wireless devices without the need to install any further cables. My query is this - when installing the alarm can all of the programming functionality be achieved by the use of the keypad included in the pack - or does any specialist device or software need to be purchased? Many thanks John

Is it necessary to solder in-line resistors to all the zone inputs i.e. E/E, PIR and door contacts? With my old Scantronic 9200 I just connected the contacts straight across the inputs on the PCB. The scematic shows a resistor on the e/e input. Thanks

Just bought a Powermax+ with some sensors and a GSM module. I wonder if I can connect both the control panel and the GSM module to the same powersupply, thus reducing the number of wires needed. One possible solution would be to connect the power to the control panel, and then another wire from the control panel (2 wires at the same connectionpoint) to the GSM module. Another way would be to use some sort of "Y" connection to route power to both consumers.

Hi Folks, Looking to replace a failing alarm system we currently have in place at a county scout hut. It consists of three PIR's, auto dialar and the central panel/main box. The alarm is activated by locking he door and de-activated my unlocking the door! (Clever stuff ) For ease of use we'd like to keep this system. For numerous reasons we wont be using a control panel to type in the code! Any suggestions? Just looking for a replacement system.. Something that we can use the existing lock with! (The door lock is simply wired straight to the alarm) Regards, Scott
