Intruder Alarms

Intruder alarms, programming, design advise, detector selection.

  1. I am replacing my old alarm system. I have done some research and it appears Scantronic are a good make in terms of functionality and reliability and come recomended from a colleague who has installed them previously. I have a wired sounder at present and want to maintain the wired asoect if possible. I'm looking at: i-on16 Control Panel (1) 714 Wireless PIR (6) Wireless door contacts - brown (2) Compatible wired sounder or the wireless one for i-on16 Please advise if the above are all compatable and what is my best option for a sounder. Also would the wireless PIR work in my detached garage? It's approximately10 metres from the control panel location.

  2. Well as the title says i have a visonic and im getting a s01 low battery warning and triple beeping that is constantly happening and i really do need to turn it off, any information would be great at this time. Thanks

  4. There is no real difference between an intruder alarm and a burglar alarm. A burglar alarm is often the phase that is used to describe an intruder alarm but intruder alarm is the more accurate term as not all unwanted intruders are burglars.

  5. Started by Taz29uk,

Afternoon, I have recently installed an optima compact gen3 system in my house and added a remote keypad. The system is working fine and walk tests etc with no problems but whilst it is day made the remote keypad and main control box emit a double beep approx every five minutes (very annoying). I've gone through the operating manual and the engineers manual I have and it seems this would be the system telling me of a line fault for the communications system. However, as you as probably aware, there is no comms system on the compact panel. any idea how I can stop it beeping at me please......? Thanks, Neil Annals.

  7. Started by Secware,

We are a new organisation in southern Spain, a couple of elderly ex-pats who have become sick of the growing number of burglaries in the area. It is working well as we purchase kits from the internet and we are installing them and then using local labour, responding via GSM and arriving on site within 4-6 minutes. It has proved very successful in its first 3 weeks. However,we have one problem which is causing us grief and we are unable to remedy it. We suffer from frequent power cuts here, sometimes the rapid ones on and off for several minutes, and that can be day or night. As you may imagine, this activates the message to our phones and then re-sets only to go off again…

Hi, I bought an Optima Compact Gen4 over two months ago. Since then I have been trying to connect it to a bell box from another manufacturer without success. Honeywell technical support simply say that I MUST buy their Reson8 siren! The bell box model is Mars 2000, the instructions and circuitry are attached. I have tried numerous combinations of the panel's A/D/B terminals to the bell's H-/H+/SO terminals but the bell is never triggered by the panel. I know that the bell works because I can manually trigger it by changing the voltage on H+ or H-. Any tips before I give in and buy the Reson8? Thanks...

  9. Hi, I'm interested in purchasing your product 166/173 (Visonic MCM-140). Before I do can you tell me if this is the 868mhz version?

Hi, I'd like to upgrade my premier 24 to a premier 48. I already have the metal case. Is it possible to buy a premier 48 without the metal case (assuming both metal cases are compatible) ? Thanks.

  11. THE "HKC 2 WAY WIRELESS QUANTUM KIT" BUT THE CLIENT WANTS TO USE 2 ENTRY EXIT DOORS . SO I WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU CAN TWIN A PIR WITH A DOOR CONTACT AND PUT THEM BOTH ON THE ENTRY EXIT ZONE . SO THEY CAN SET THE ALARM SIMPLY BY PRESSING SET ON THE OPTIONAL KEY FOBS YOU SELL , INSTEAD OF OMITTING ZONES AND STUFF WHEN SETTING THE ALARM ON THE KEY PAD

Hi I have been installing alarms for some time now but have never wired in the tamper circuit. I have now setup a new business installing security systems and feel i should now wire in this glabal tamper. I have in the past tried wiring all the sensors into the terminals but when i do this i can never generate a tamper alarm. Any guidance would be appriciated. Chris

Enforcer wireless alarm about a year ago which i purchase for you. this has been work fine. until just recently it came up with a battery fault. I have changed all the batteries in the sensors, and done a battery check and signal strength test, and they have shown as ok. the alarm has been working for a week since this, and now has displayed an error again of, unable to set 01 wireless low battery. I have done the battery and signal test again, and has come back as ok.

Hi, I purchased a Scantronic 9651 from you in July. I have now noticed that in Eng Mode all IR and Panel tampers are taken out (as expected) allowing me to access the components, but having just taken the external siren cover off the bell rang immediately. It may be that this is correct but I was not expecting this (other panels I have installed eliminate all tampers in Eng Mode, inc the Bell). I would appreciate it if you could advice me if this is correct. Also, if it is correct is there a way to avoid the bell going off during maintenance of the system. For your info I have fitted a Pyronix Belle to the 9651 panel as below. Belle 9651 B- 0v B+ 12v BA OP1 (Bell) STB O…

  16. Hi, I am looking for a detector to cover an extension with lots of glass in. A dual tech sensor with k band has been recommended. Is this detector a good choice please?

  17. HI again Following on from another question i would also like to know how to wire more than 1 sensor on a circuit. Whenever in the past i have done this, when testing the system it has failed to activate. I assume this can be done as some systems have more than 8 detectors. Chris

  18. Started by Secware,

My first question is can you confirm the total load current of the AG6 is 260mA max as I seen else where figures higher than this. The total load for the Logic six is only 1A. My second question is could the second AG6 be wired with only the strobe operating but keeping the anti tamper working? If so how would this be wired?

  19. Started by Secware,

Our premises has a security system supplied by you (quite a while ago now) and is fitted with a Honeywell AG6 external sounder. I need to disconnect the mains as well as the battery for an extended period and, after putting in the engineer code can remove various items, but when I remove the battery, the AG6 sounder keeps sounding. How do I switch this off?
