secware3 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I was wondering whether you have a substitute for the FMX-DT-X8? This item is to replace an existing bottom entry Optrex PIR, and I am worried about the length of the wires that the requirements are (1) bottom cable entry (2) wire joiner preferably at bottom on unit (3) 7 wires, including the LED latch wire (4) medium sized room about 3.5 metres square. Would have a such a substitute PIR? Quote
secware3 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 his purchase is to replace an Optex Wonderex EX35 PIR. The existing wires may not be long enough to reach the top nor even the middle of the PIR unit, so the terminals need to be at the bottom of the unit. The unit also needs a 7th terminal for alarm latching for the unit LED show whether it was that PIR that triggered the alarm. The PIR is situated in a living room of about 3 by 3.5 metres. Consequently, the PIR need not be very high tech - a suitable alternative will have the terminals at the bottom and a 7th terminal for the LED Quote
Secware_Tech6 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Im not sure that latching PIR's are a thing anymore. DO you actually need the latch function? Quote
secware3 Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 We have 4 PIRs on one zone, and it would be impossible to establish which PIR was triggered without latching LEDs. Without latching, we would need a new panel with at least 3 more zones, and to re-wire these PIRs. Surely, the 7th wire on PIRs is for LED latching, even though it has differing labels such as walk test? Quote
Secware_Tech6 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 It may well be but shock sensors still do latching but i dont know of a pir that supports it anymore. YOu may be able to find some new old stock. Installers dont do that anymore (for some time) as panels are bigger and its best practice to put everything on its own circuit. Walk test is to remotly disable/enable the led not latch Quote
