[Ticket Question] Texecom Veritas R8

I have a 20+ year old burglar system. I plan to get Texecom Veritas R8 panel.

1. Are there likely to be problems connecting to existing bell and PIRs?

2. Do I need Veritas R8, rather than Veritas, if I want to connect Speech unit at a later stage?

If the rest of the system is over 20 years old I wouldn't use any of it.
