Intruder Alarms

Intruder alarms, programming, design advise, detector selection.

  1. Started by rogerabc,

Hi & thanks for providing this great resource. The house currently has a Scantronic 9800 which I removed & reinstalled (with new sensors & cabling) during an extension 9 years ago - works fine. I have built a detached garage with playroom above and want to wirelessly link 2 PIR + 2 smoke detectors to the house alarm - don't really want battery powered detectors though. Cooper Security recommended 703R & 762 but didn't really want to talk to me as not a pro installer. I will also be needing another keypad for the system. What do you recommend please. Many thanks, Roger

Hi folks, What size battery would I need for the above Panel? What Texecom smoke detector would you recommend for use in a house? What surface mount door contacts are compatable with this panel? Thanks in advance Chris

  3. Started by stuart1875,

Hi everyone I just wondered if anyone can tell me if texecom Impaq glass sensor is compatible with the above system and if easier or even possible what wireless transmitters can be fitted to this system to save running new cable.

  4. Started by Keith,

Hi. I had Scantronic 9800 system installed 20 years ago. It has given good service but the push buttons have become faulty over the years and we are now on the last four buttons that work reliably. Is there a compatible replacement available for the original 9825 remote keypad? If yes is it simply a case of switching off power, disconnect battery and swop over wires on keypad or does it need an 'expert'?

  5. Started by Secware,

last April it has worked perfectly. However recently, although it texts me on arming and disarming, if I try to control the system remotely ie arm, disarm, status it fails to respond. This was a relatively expensive piece of equipment and although just over one year old, I would have expected it to have lasted longer than this. It is operating with a Premier 24 panel (although only partially now!)

  6. Please can you advise which of the surface contacts you sell would be suitable for use in conjunction with the wired input of the 'Visonic MC-302e PG2' wireless magnetic contact.

  7. Started by accounts3,

TICKET QUESTION I have been installing Visonic Powermax systems for a while now and now have a customer requesting a PIR with built in camera. I understand the Powermaster 30 is the only solution? This uses the Next Cam PG2 for which I can't find a price. Also I need to know if images only go to central monitoring station?

  8. I purchased a Ventcroft Compact Classic Sounder form you recently. Having fitted it though I cannot get the strobe to operate. Everything else operates as it should. I already retrned on but have the same issue with this one. Its connected to a Veritas Compact 8 panel. I have checked and do get 12volts across STB- and 12v+ hold off. Is there anything particular with this panel that I am unaware of.

Hi there, I'm looking to install a house alarm for my property and I require a little bit of assistance finding the right piece of kit for me. Ideally I want the system to be wireless. I want one of those Klaxxons which will alert the area if there was a break in. I would need 12 Pirs. 7 Door Sensors. 7 window sensors. I also want the main box ideally to be hidden away, and use a wireless keypads by the doors. (2). Also I'm not so fussed if the alarm bell has to wired up. If there is Wifi and connectivity then that would be a bonus. Please let me know if you need to know more information. Kind regards Hiren

Hi I'm interested in getting the Visonic Powermax+ Quickfit Kit (inc Wireless sounder). What Keypanel do you recommend? I assume it's recomended that you put the control panel in a closet or something and not close to the door? Also, can the whole kit run on battery only? if so, for how long? BR

I am fitting a new intruder alarm system to my house, and want to utilise the wired sensors, etc I already have. However I want to have remote control operation as well. To achieve this I am looking at the Galaxy G2-12 panel with wireless expander (RF Portal) and wireless remote controls. Is the wireless module compatible wiht the G2-12 or do I have to move up to the G2-20?

I need one keypad, a fob, door magnet, and 3 PIR's plus external sounder. Is it practical to build the kit up from bits or do you suggest something else?? Budget not much more than £220. Thanks Howard

  21. Hi, Looking for a panel that can control a relay whereby when the alarm is set, e.g. when leaving the building, a signal is sent from the panel to a relay. This signal causes the relay to switch and so makes another device active. The signal stays continuous whilst the panel is set. Conversly, when the panel is un-set, the signal is withdrawn and so the relay becomes inactive. Looking for a low cost compact wired model preferrably. Which model do you recommend? Thanks
