July 29, 201015 yr Hi all Looking to purchase a wireless alarm for my house. 5pir's, 1 contact, panel. Would like to use existing wired bell box if possible. A good battery life would also be nice. Been looking at the infinite prime alarm, and the visonic powermax kit. The Scantronic 500r also looks ok Only problem is that the powermax plugs in with a plug in transformer, wouldn'y that be easy to defeat by a burglar? Any advice would be great Thanks Josh
July 29, 201015 yr In what way? If you mean it can be unplugged then yes it could. But you shouldnt plug them in anyway. They should be hard wired into a spur. But any proper panel has battery backup so if your burglar unplugged it he would have to waut a minimum of 12 hours for the panel to go flat. Then if your remote signalling the panel would send a low battery before dying. If its audible only the sounder would sound once the panel died. All that assumes it installed and configured correctly

I presume with the infinite and 500r you can wire them in directly though?
July 31, 201015 yr The powermax comes with a wall mount transformer. The powering (mains) is flying lead. So yes you can direct into a spur or fit a plug and plug it in.

August 2, 201015 yr Same size as a normal brick, but wall mountable instead of being the plug in variety
