securitywarehouse Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Hi, I had an alarm system and we started having problems with our bell box (kept going off because it was too close to the boiler flue). I decided to replace the bell box and bought a Texecom Odyssey 1E. We've fitted the bellbox but it won't seem to work with my existing system. I'm not sure but it may be that its not compatable with the panel/key pad. I could do with knowing what panel/keypad would work with this bell box, how much they cost and whether you stock such an item. Thanks Quote
accounts3 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Most hard wired bell boxes are compatible with most hard wored alarm panels, it is just different wiring options. You do not say what your panel is, so it is difficult to be more precise Quote
FastCar Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 If you tell us what type/brand of alarm you have fitted , we can tell you how to connect the 2 together. Quote
pontesfordmac Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Hi, thanks for the reply. Your reply was very kind re most wired alarm systems and bell boxes being compatable and that its just the wiring that needs sorting. My alarm system is an 'ALTO' AL2163 with built in communicator outputs and remote LED keypad. I've read that direct from the front of the engineering information! The bellbox is (as I've already mentioned) a Texecom Odyssey 1E. Thanks for any help you can give with sorting this problem. David Quote
FastCar Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I have never heard of that panel , but the bell / sab connections are usually grouped together and consist of a permanent 12v - 0v supply to charge the bell battery and a switched neg to trigger the siren / strobe , and a tamper of some sorts.
