PeterG
Hello, We recently moved into a house that has a non functional wired ITEC Meridian panel (prob. 20 years old?). It has power to it but the front keypad does not respond to any key presses, and the alarm it not activated by the tamper switches on the panel door. The last occupiers never used it (over 12 years or so) and did not have any codes or manuals so I was thinking that the easiest solution would be to fit a new panel. I've no experience with alarms but I am an electronics engineer so am happy to give it a try with some helpful advice:) Present zone layout: Z1: PIR on stairs (6 core cable) Z2: Garage door magnetic reed switch (6 core cable) Z3: 5 of GS610 inertia sensors wired in series (one with a reed switch) on one. (4 core cable) Entry/Exit: One GS610 with reed switch (4 core cable) PA wired (4 core cable) All of the tamper pairs are wired in series to the panel. Bell box (6 core cable, 4 cores used, power and 'TR', 'BHO') My first question is do any current panels have 'analysed' zones that I understand are needed to work with the ITEC GS610 non powered inertia sensors? I was looking at the Texecom panels but have not seen this listed. I haven't inspected the bell box yet but I'm expecting that it may need replacing as well. Thanks for any help you can offer, Peter
Secware_Tech6
Some of the scantronic panels have anaylsed zones so this might be an obvious choice. Other that that you will need an analyser for the non powered initia sensors, or replace them with powered versions.
PeterG
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll have a look at the Scantronic panels - are any of them better than others? I would replace the inertia sensors but as they are all wired in series with 4 core cables I presume that new 6 core cables would also be required which is not such a small job. Secware_Tech6
yes you would need to recable. If you used an EOL panel you could use 2 cores for power and 2 for zone. You would need to remove the power to reset them after an alarm. SO you either need a panel that has that output or remove the power via a switch.
