Expander

Featured Replies

I need to connect three smoke detectors to my existing Texecom 48 system. I don't want to run cables back to the panel, so I planned to connect the detectors to an expander, which would be connected to the spare cable sitting in the loft which was already taken back to the panel when the system was installed. I want to avoid using a power supply with the expander if possible. I do not have any other expanders on the system currently. About 14 zones on the Texecom 48 are used. What are the options, and would I be better off running three separate cables from th epanel to the loft? It will be a pain in the a*se mind.

Unfortunalty if you need a power supply, you need a power supply. Only way to be sure is to measure what your currently drawing in day mode and alarm. Then you can decide if you need on or not.

re expander wise. Assuming your panel has the capacity you need one of these

this will give you 8 circuits and you can fit this in the loft and connect your smoke sensors to it.
