IanMK
I have a Gardtec CP8L system that I inherited when I moved into my home several years ago. I wasn't left a code so asked the company who had serviced the system a couple of months previously to reset the system. On visiting, I was told that the system was faulty and the technician was unable to repair it. He left it powered-up such that the PIRs and bell box LEDs still flashed, so still acting as a deterrent. The keypad LCD display is blank. I have not touched the system, not even turning-off the mains, in case the external bell activates and I have no way of deactivating it. Is it possible that the anti-tamper mechanisms are still working? If so, how would I deactivate the external bell if it activates when removing the main unit cover? Secware_Tech6
It's possible it's a faulty keypad. The external shouldn't activate on a tamper when unset. But as you don't have a 100% system it's unknown how it will react
IanMK
The keypad display worked OK while the technician was trying to reset the system. He just didn’t seem to be able to reset it (wrong code?). He did something to disable the display before leaving. As you say, I haven’t got a 100% system. I would guess that the control board is dead (powered down?) rather than the system being unset. If I’m right, would this mean that the anti-tamper features will be non-functional? Similarly, I don’t know how the bell hold-off is implemented - is it likely that the bell would activate if the mains power was removed and would re-applying mains power disable the bell again? (What bell hold-off mechanisms will I encounter?)
Secware_Tech6
I would say your panel is powered but the keypad is not.
IanMK
Thanks. I guess I’ll have to suck it and see after all
