Don't know what model I have but perhaps the photos allows someone to assist ?

 

Suspect personally the handset microphone is the issue as we cannot hear from the house at the outside front door panel.

 

Any suggestions as to what unit I have and what I should try to solve this , short of paying someone to say it is broken and sell me another unit, of course.

I'd check the cable on 1 and 2 is ok between the handset and the outer panel.

It could be the mic in the handset but id look elsewhere first

I am not stood nearby the unit at the moment, just looking at the photo I took .

 

So, can you further explain where you are seeing a wire or terminal called number 1 or number 2 ?

They should be marked on the terminals. Also looks like you have a wire disconnected
