jackbaxter
Hi my name is Jack, and I live and work in Finland. Finland is home to the Abloy un-pick-able un-bump-able lock, secure doors that open towards you and triple glazed windows. it also has a very low crime rate however crime is on the rise. And robbery is happening but still it seams no one here has home alarm systems! With a secure property why need one right?? ..... wrong Most people here have summer houses, log cabins in the woods often 100s of km from there home. These summer houses are often near lakes with no one else permanently living close by and a lot of Fins have motorboats or kayaks, bicycles and many other summer toys and nice things that they keep for summer fun. These houses are left over winter for 6 months at a time. with no alarm what is to stop someone smashing a window, finding a key to the shed and taking all the motorbikes jetskiis boats what ever ... hell no body would know until May when the weather is warm enough to go and enjoy the summer house/ lake house. so my question? I need an alarm system with the following requirements: wired so no need chance of flat battery mid winter 2-4 motion sensors door sensor (optional) easy to fit for a qualified electrician (me) a way of notifying the owner of an intruder.. either via phone line or maybe it has a sim card.. ..phone line and sim would be great. a way of lasting maybe a week on a back up battery the owner notification could be via the installation company if that is an option. and then the tricky one. .. i may need the alarm to cope with temperatures of -30*c -22*F it doesn't need: a deafening alarm because no one would hear it it doesn't need a bell box or light because no one would see it as these houses are normally out of sight any help much appreciated as for installation with these wooden cabins the wires just run along the walls either in trunking or nailed up thanks in advance for any help or advice,, recommend me any system you like .. pros, cons. .. what do you guys think.. p.s. Thieves don't get any ideas the bears will eat you if you come and steal from Finland.
Secware_Tech6
so my question? I need an alarm system with the following requirements: wired so no need chance of flat battery mid winter 2-4 motion sensors https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/honeywell-dt8012f5-dual-tec-motion-sensor-with-petimmunity-p-4033.html door sensor (optional) https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/knight-grade-3-4-terminal-surface-contact-p-2558.html easy to fit for a qualified electrician (me) a way of notifying the owner of an intruder.. either via phone line or maybe it has a sim card.. ..phone line and sim would be great. GSM unit https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/menvier-gsm-speech-dialler-p-2989.html I would suggect pro monitoring not diallers as the path is not monitored using a dialler. Something like a webway unit or dualcom etc a way of lasting maybe a week on a back up battery The only way to achieve stanby of that time would be with large batteries and some sort of split charge system. Even the big Vanderbilt VDS Unit wont take a battery big enough. YOu would need to calculate or measure your standby current, size the batteries and chargers as required and connect the to the panel via a relay in the event of an ac failure. and then the tricky one. .. i may need the alarm to cope with temperatures of -30*c -22*F Your batteries will have drastically reduced capacity in those tempratures and is outside the manufactures specs for devices. YOu may need small heaters (resistors) in the devices if the cold was a problem, but that will use a lot of power.
