Secware Posted March 11, 2016 Share Posted March 11, 2016 I am interested in a small home alarm with following function:Hybrid base unit with backup battery and communicator that can send alarm to my cellphone trough GSM mobile phone network, working in Sweden.Remote keypadTag to set or disarm the alarmI have looked at Honeywell flex and ionEX and Microtech Galaxy 2-44 Comms C/W Keypad but I do not understand if GSM are integrated or if I have to buy it separately? stuart_mcg Posted March 11, 2016 Share Posted March 11, 2016 They all require external communicators for GSM, so you need to buy separately. Alarm panels normally only have built-in PSTN dialers, but they are very limited in that they normally cannot dial mobile devices or other lines directly. The GSM communicators are usually pretty expensive at around £180 for the Flex module and £280 for the I-ON. You then have the ongoing costs for the SIM card to add in. If you have broadband, then it may be worth looking at the IP module monitoring options for the panels with a low cost third party self monitoring service.
