Menvier SD3 Dialler Problem

Featured Replies

I am having difficulty making the low temperature output on my SD3 dialler work correctly. I would like the dialler to send me a text message when temperature drops below the alarm threshold. However, despite the "test outputs" suggesting all is functioning OK the unit does not seem to be triggering the alarm properly.

I have it configured as follows:

Output 3 is set to Temperature Low/ Negative Polarity

Output 3 has single wire to Trigger C

Triggers are set to (default) negative polarity

Trigger C Alarm is routed to Contact 1

In Test Options switching on Output 3 gives correct  "Trig C Alarm" in System Log

In Test Options testing Trigger C correctly sends message to Contact 1

When temperature drops below alarm level the System Log records "Temp Low Alarm" - but Trigger C is not activated and no call is made.

Are you please able to advise what changes need to be made to the configuration to make it function correctly?

Many thanks

Just to add.... I have tried changing to different output and also tried configuring Output 3 as Remote, dialled in an got toggle acknowledgment. However, SD3 Outputs are failing to trigger the SD3 input alarm.

What is foxing me is the SD3 outputs correctly set off the relevant SD3 Input Trigger when the output is toggled in Test Options, but are failing to have any effect when activated by an actual Low Temperature Alarm or Remote Access etc?

Thank you

I have just noticed that under the SD3 on your website it sepcifically says

"an integral thermometer can be pre-set at any given temperature from 0

I have set Trigger C  (to 0v) using the "Test Options" facility and the unit correctly sends me a text message. As previously mentioned if I toggle output 3 using Test Options everything works fine in Test Scenario - i.e Trigger C alarmed and text message is sent. However in "real life" situation the low temperature alarm is not actually triggering the input when the temperature drops, despite the fact the the OUtput is configures to do so.

Just to let you know I have rewired Output 1 (instead of Output 3) to Trigger C and now everything is working fine! I don't understand why I couldn't get Output 3 to trip the internal trigger, as it works fine in triggering an external transistorised relay circuit.

Anyway by swapping the Outputs around I seem to have been able to overcome the problem.

Many thanks
