  1. "We can advise on product choice" OK - so is this a suitable product choice for my type of house if I were to have it professionally installed? Are there other comparable products that I should be considering before ordering? Thanks, Glyn.
  2. Hi, I am about to move into a 200m² 4 bedroom detached house in the countryside, I've never had an alarm at a house before, but my wife is worried that as this is more isolated than previous houses (nearest house is ~100m away), that we are at a higher risk than our previous central village location. I am intending on a DIY install, I'm reasonably confident at my capabilities in laying & connecting wiring and drilling holes and am a computer programmer by trade, so would hope the programming side wouldn't beat me! After quite a lot of research I think I've settled on the Honeywell Flex 20. As the whole house needs decorating, I'm not really looking for a primarily wireless system, as from what I can see by the time you add in the cost for the detectors it becomes a lot more expensive for a larger property. We don't have any crown jewels, so figuring that a fully monitored system is an overkill, we just want something that will tell us if it's gone off and why it's gone off, and generally act as a deterant. That said, I'd like something a bit more flexible than the standard DIY "yale" alarm, as I'd like to be able to be informed when someone crosses a sensor at the start of the driveway (~100m long), and possibly turn on lights etc if a fire is detected / someone gets up in the night.. We would want to be able to "daytime set" (i.e. notification if someone comes up the drive when we're in, or in the garden, or fire detection), "night set" (i.e. any detector downstairs, simple for the kids to disarm in the morning), or "away set" (the whole shebang). Currenlty, my shopping list is: Flex 20 v3 + MK8 Keyprox + 2 tags Ethernet module Expansion module (to be able to turn on lights using a relay or two) External siren Internal siren (which ones are suitable for fire alarm?) PIR's + smoke detector + heat detector + CO2 detector + Door contacts. Driveway sensor is for another day. Also, any specific recommendations for which of the detectors to purchase would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Glyn.
