Sorry I dont know if you can upgrade the firmware by yourself, but I doubt it.
I have seen remote firmware upgrade mentioned somewhere but I think that was a "future function"

I have exactly the same problem. Unfortunately there has been a hardware change between version 12 and 13 so according to Visonic you can't just do a firmware upgrade.
The latest firmware is 14 but "We are now looking at releasing version 15 due to some issues with the KP-160 entry/exit beep timing. "
But from release 13 and up its just firmware changes.
After 1 week of trying to get help from Securitywarehouse I finally received a message telling me that my ticket now was forwarded to their Returns department.
I hope they will get back to me soon so that the unit can be replaced.
